It does not come as a surprise at all.Just last month we had unprecedented record high infant mortality and malnutrition.Any serious health system run by a serious health organization cannot be recording these figures in TB mortality in this 2015.Even the most deprived of health services will not record these figures. When you have a Director General of the like of Ebenezah Appiah Denkyira whose major decision within a month of assuming post was to fraudulently implicate colleague doctors with mental illness and sack them, then you expect these despicable setbacks in health management. This is a clear indication of a square peg in round hole.It is also the result of political influence, bribery and corruption determining who occupies a key position like DG,GHS rather than merit on grounds of competence. When this man decided to shield corruption in Effia Nkwanta hospital maiming and killing patients by turning those doctors into scapegoats who reported the corruption, then i realized the GHS was in for disaster and anarchy.I have predicted that Appiah Denkyira will be the worse performing DG in GHS and i am absolutely right. The hallmark of a competent leader is honesty and truth. You cannot have dishonest, irresponsible and corrupt person who delight in self centered mediocrity approach in problem solving and expect results. Somebody quick to cover scam and illegalities killing patients because he is a beneficiary cannot be a trusted leader. Why didn't Appiah Denkyira institute investigations following media publication of a bribe of 50 ghana cedis a patient could not pay for blood transfusion that cause her life.He is just one example of persons occupying key positions in public institutions to satisfy their whims and caprices not national interest. One of those with the mentality that i must own 20 mansions and 20 cars etc damn the GHS.
