Countries train their doctors differently and award different degrees. It is time we started conferring Doctor of Medicine degrees to MBChB students who have performed the necessary research projects as some countries do.
The current practice where newly inducted doctors called house officers with no experience whatsoever are left to experiment with (attend to) serious medical cases while residents, specialists and consultants are away must be put to a stop immediately. There must be at least one specialist present 24 hours in three shift rotations to supervise them. Our health system as it is presently is not the best. The situation in the countryside and rural communities is even worse.
Do not doubt the wisdom in these words.

On the Sunday before Christmas Reverend Billy Graham was walking down Highland street in Mt Holly, North Carolina on his way to see a parishioner. However, he wanted to post a parcel urgently so he asked a young boy where he could find the post office. When the boy had directed him, Reverend Graham thanked him and said, 'If you'll come to the Church this evening, you can hear me telling everyone how to get to heaven.'
The boy replied, 'I think I'll give your sermon a miss. If you don't even know your way to the post office, how will you lead me to heaven?'

The Ministry of Health is one of the most corrupt and useless ministries in the country.The Minister should focus on eliminating the bottle necks and corruption particularly in Ghana Health Service to improve health delivery services.A gang of mafias in both MOH and GHS who have been there for decades and are killing Ghana's productive population for their selfish gains.I wonder why a minister should be talking about food poisoning when there are major issues to discuss.Focus on the pervasive corruption and bribery scandals by the mafia killing the health sector and the population.A country that is still recording over 130 neonatal deaths in certain areas certainly have a big problem in its health sector.Square pegs in round holes abound in both the GHS and the MOH.The reason being favoritism,cronyism,bribery and corruption that allow these criminal elements to be recycled and reshuffled for decades now.There are better competent and knowledgeable people than Appiah Denkyira to occupy the position of Director General,GHS but for the dirty politics and corruption in the health ministry.

Don't blame Hon.Agyemang-Mensah.Blame Alban Bagbin who impose Appiah Denkyira on Ghana Health Service as the DG.Appiah Denykira served as a director at the ministry under Alban Bagbin.Bagbin himself is noted for some of these weird decisions.It happened in other ministries he held portfolios creating serious problems.He best knows what he gets out of that.
