  I like that statement "just do not get it in the first place" very great and mind arousing statement indeed.This is very simplistic but in this case it is just free talk and in several instances remains just wishful.First of all let me thank Mrs.Denyoh and all the folks behind the scenes trying everyday help stem or manage various illnesses in Ghana but what she failed to is to throw some light on an illness such as diabetes.Diabetes just like BP,Prostrate,Asthma,Ulcer etc.in today's world are no death sentence you have all or any of these ailments and still live to be hundred but is most important is to know your health status and this you can only know by regular check ups with your Dr and doing blood and urine tests every 3 months or at least 2 to 4 times a year because your our health status will continue to change till we depart from this planet earth so your Dr telling you that you do not have any of these illnesses does not mean you will never have all or any.1)Be always mindful that once you BP your probability of getting diabetes at a certain age in your life is high.2)If you have a relative who has diabetes,BP,Cholesterol etc.then your chances of getting all or some of the sicknesses increases.3)If you are a smoker it increases.4)If you fat or over weight woman or man your are at risk to get all or some because the days when we looked heavy ladies or men as good living is history you have to see to lose weight especially as we age because the metabolism slows down.To cut everything short first continue to check for your health constantly and also ask more questions to know more about what you already have because knowledge is empowerment,take your medicines as directed,please watch what you eat do not say I do not care,get away from salt,red meat,only drink alcohol in moderation,stop smoking and stay away from smokers to prevent 2nd hand smoke,get enough sleep because sleep is medicine big time,listen to your own body language because you yourself better than any Dr.the Dr is only effective from what you tell him about how you feel,drink enough water never wait to be thirsty before you drink water because dehydration is a killer and can sneak on you without knowing but please the water must be clean not just any water,eat more baked or fresh fish but not fried because anything fried raises your heart attack and stroke risk,take your exercise seriously especially walking and some weight lifting to build some muscle,wash your hands with soap before and after every task and this is a funny one have sex once,two or 3x a week depending on your age and strength especially for the older folks or after a heart surgery get the okay from your Dr.to see if your heart is strong enougth to do it but know that to much of everything has an adverse effect and be mindful of HIV and sexual diseases stay with your wife or partner prevent HIV,Hep.B and several STDs which detrimental to your life just do not have sex indiscriminately because just as is good for circulation and mood it is also a killer and please stop using all kinds of false concoctions for sex they are dangerous and please to the old folks be mindful that you are never going to be young again so advice yourself because nobody to impress it is more about your life.To old men or women if you can not do it entirely then it is health issue with your BP,Cholesterol,Diabetes,weight,stress,poor eating habits,less sleep etc.please do not feel shy discuss it with your Dr and he will refer you to a specialist do not blame it witchcraft or as they will make believe juju.Just know that you will never be able do it same as when you were young but at least once or 2 times a week if you get the right diagnosis and treatment from a urologist.Thanks for sharing because knowledge is empowering.
