The whole country should wake up to the threats posed by these so-called 'spiritually potent' herbs, water etc. Last year, I was on a tro-tro bus that was boarded by a young man selling some haerbs at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital roundabout. He advised passengers not to take stroke victims to hospital, but invest in the herb which, he claimed, could restore the health of stroke victims within a week. I challenged him to back up his claims to no avail. Another young man chipped in with doubts over the claims. To the great amusement of the passengers, the herb seller showed a clean pair of heels when he had to get down to make way for another passenger to get off the bus. He just vanished. I believe that this public gesture by the FDA could not have come sooner. We need to prosecute people who go round making such claims.
