With just a year left for us to achieve the United Nations Millenium Development Goals there is growing irritation amongst concerned citizens and stakeholders on the lack of information from the President and the MPs (representatives) on how we have fared so far.
The government must provide the needed information as soon as possible.
The government must ensure that fraudulent claims are detected and the appropriate measures taken.

Of all the frauds in Ghana NHIA would perhaps be at the top as the greatest fraud Ghana government perpetuates on the people. Ghana imports at least $10 billion worth of goods and at 2.5% of all imports and sales in Ghana, this would come to $250 million per year. Yet nobody has been able to provide public accounting of the funds for over 10 years.
What a fraud!! Ghana Leadership Union team requested a meeting with NHIA and they dodged the appointment and did not want to meet.
Let them publish their audited accounts!

Kwaku, it appears you are a bit ignorant of the finances of the NHIA, they have published their annual reports on its website for 2009, 2010, 2011 and recently 2012. The current management team I understand started the practice of producing annual report and actually publishing it. Check them out on www.nhis.gov.gh and this might help the cause of your union.

I just got some information so let me help u. I wont insult u like u did to the officials at the nhia. Here u go: Last year, NHIA paid close to 650million Ghana cedis to healthcare providers across the country... now compare that to your $250mil u mentioned, how does that compare? Do u know NHIA has offices in all districts in the country and regional offices and therefore run at a cost?
On your issue of accountability... u cant be serious! have u ever bothered to reach out for any of the consistently published annual reports of the NHIA? Ok, every year they publish their financial statements and it is a public document.
Stop running down good things and learn to support Ghana.

Every organisation has several divisions that work together to create value for the whole entity. So there is nothing wrong if you aspire to total quality management in all the other areas. the missing link really for the NHIS is the weakness of their financial capacity which i gather is due primarily due to inadequate and late revenue inflows from govt vrs escalating claims bills and this could be disastrous.

Thieves,This guy has collapsed NHIA, they spend whatever comes in on conference and useless workshops just to amass wealth while they fail to reimburse the facilities for services. With a bogus e-claims system which even doesn't use their own business rules they pay certain facilities for no work done but failed to pay Hospital for services. Soon Health Insurance bearer will be denied services while GHS facilities will ask clients to go buy their own drugs.
