When there was no wine at the wedding, Jesus came to the rescue. At the last supper wine was the centerpiece. Moderation and commonsense constitute the essence of all things on earth.

Why do you rely on what pastors and preachers tell you? Why don't you read the Bible for yourself? I am of the view that the Bible is not against the drinking of wine in moderation. It is excessive drinking that the Bible frowns upon.
In Matthew 11:18-19 the Bible states as follows:
"For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon!' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.' But wisdom is proved right by her deeds."
From the above scripture, it is clear that Jesus ate food in his days on earth and hence his detractors exagerated for him and called him a glutton. If he never ate he would never have been called a glutton. By the same parity of reasoning, Jesus drunk alcoholic wine during his days on earth and even though he did it in moderation, his detractors exagerated for him and called him a drunkard.
It is therefore not open to any preacher to try to be more Christian than Jesus himself by preaching to us that the taking of moderate amounts of wine like a glass or two is sinful behaviour.

This Red wine thing is often too wholesale and misleading. How safe is it for people with disease states that interact with alcohol? Lets be careful

I agree with you because we are all not the same and hence those who propound these theories are not always right in all cases. It is for the individual person to advise himself and also to find out what works for him. If you feel funny after consuming certain kinds of food, you certainly do not need somebody to tell you that that type of food is not good for you.
