Guys, May I plead with you all to refrain from partisan and mischeivous comments on this serious issue of armed robbery, which has been on ascendancy in the past decade or so. Let us accept that government (particularly the police) have not done much to address this issue. We seem to have come to accept that armed robbery is now part and parcel of the Ghanaian day-to-day life, which gives the general impression that life is cheap in Ghana. Why have previous governments (both NPP and NDC) refused to tackle this problem heads on? Why have they not 'slice' the problem into its root cause components and deal with them? To mention a few; unemployment, lack of employable skills as a result of the poor education system, proliferation of small arms and its weak control regime, police corruption and collusion, lack of proper intelligence gathering, lack of political will to robustly tackle the problem of armed robbery, which is partly because constituents don't hold their MPs accountable etc. The sad, worrying and annoying thing is that, those who have the power to address this problem cannot be bothered because they have body guards, macho men and the best of security systems all sponsored by the tax payer, so they can ignore the problem and comfortably stick one finger up to the taxpayer who is almost always the victim of armed robbery.
Let us be serious on this issue, stop the partisanship and politicising and hold our government responsible starting with our MPs by holding them to perform their duties as promised when they wanted our votes. We need not politicise and trivialise this serious problem! We've got to be serious!
