The dockyard men's room was always filthy because the workers never peed accurately to the drain. Every day the man who was in charge of sanitation at the dockyard would have to call in the cleaners to wipe off the mess inside the men's room.
After few months of bringing the toilet cleaners in, the budget was exceeding, bills piling up and the sanitation guy had to think of an alternative way to solve this daily problem in the men's room. So what he did was he called in a famous economist and explained to him the problem in the men's room.
The economist went away with this and after a couple of weeks came up with a possible solution to end this problem. He told the sanitation guy to paste little flies randomly into the drain and guaranteed this would work. The sanitation guy was surprised at his solution and he started to argue with the economist.
The next day, the sanitation guy came into the men's room only to find a clean healthy environment inside and that no one had peed outside the drain because everyone had been aiming at the flies in the drain!

Oyiwa, so Forbes too confirms we shall go to war as we are 100% sure NDC will rig the elections with election engineering , propaganda , corruption , bloated register , hegemony mixed with northern tribalism. Now that the dumsor barge fiasco has backfired and exploded in your face you present another half baked solution? Dumsor barge was meant to enable Ibrahim Mahama to own the majority of the independent power producing capabilities , increase unnecessarily the rates on electricity so our home start getting bills 3 to 5 times what they are now. We may be already refugees and second class citizens in our own country but that does not make deaf and blind to the truth. We know the root cause of dumsor is your Anti Akan hate agenda and because Akosombo is on Akan territory you have allowed mismanagement and neglect to practically put out of function one turbine after another. You spread propaganda and lies about some water level mixed with bullshit about the whole thing being old or obsolete forgetting that most hydro generators in the world are older than ours but still functioning. No talk of the possibility that its still possible to send these defunct turbines to Europe , North America , Japan or even Russia (NEVER TURKEY)and have them re-calibrated . Due to lack of timely maintenance from neglect and corruption blessed by the hate of the Akans politics mixed with Muslim caliphate destruction ,the turbines have all slowly spun out of axis and need to be dismantled to calibrate them , with the availability of new technology its even possible to increase the original 1000 megawatts to 1500 or even double if reverse turbines and other changes are made. Yes the undeclared WAR against the Akans continue, they already declare territories of the Akans such as Akosombo , Osu all the way to Kasoa and other areas as belonging to the Ewes , Gas or whoever, very soon we shall hear how the cities Kumasi , Koforidua , Takoradi and Cape Coast belong to the Zongo pepeni.Their vicious propaganda onslaught , brainwashing and subliminal message has left some Akans especially Fantis with no recollection of their proud history or even able to speak Fanti but now parade around as if they are Gas or ayigbe. Just like Al Capone was able to turn Chicago into a fortress for the mafia ,so have these sakawa mafia criminal NDC pepeni/ayigbe unholy alliance turned our country into a place whereby only corrupt criminals can prosper and decent silent majority marginalized. Their propaganda and grassroots network together with the security agencies are advertising an atmosphere of hopeless with the message that ALL are corrupt just like them. No worthy project can see the light of day due to their greedy corrupt demands and larceny. No progress can be achieved due to this rotten system placed there by the perverse , intellectually handicapped morons of the security agencies and NDC. Ironically enough this sakawa ndc govt has turned into their victims due to the massive Stockholm syndrome their own supporters , sympathizers and foot soldiers. In any sakawa situation we notice the victims when you try and enlighten them they resort to passionately hating you because they think in their delusion you are envious of their great opportunity . The end result is them loosing their life energy, misery and abysmal despair but God also punishes eventually the perpetrators and they too face death under very horrible circumstances. NDC is now desparate for a success story they can use to decieve Ghanaians of their benevolent intent but just like Al Capone they resort to creating an atmosphere/climate of destroying anyone who dares to raise their voice and speak the truth. We must continue our quiet whisper campaign to remove them from as just as outsiders and quiet majority of Chicago succeeded so will we. Fifi Kwetey says that the Volta region is the source and world bank of the NDC , and the lands /people of the Akans the bread basket to be exploited by them. My brothers keep your cutlasses sharpened and ready as just as when the European nations tried to enslave Germany into their breadbasket so must we soon teach them a lesson so that never again will they even dream of such a crime just like in Europe today. Freedom is not gained with a peaceful transition but with blood , we didn't start it but know how to end it . Very soon hopefully we shall meet in the front-lines of the battlefield

This man's excuse, whether religious or not is beside the point. Nobody under our present constitution can be forced to do any work that he or she refuses to do. There is no legal basis for this. If this cleanup work is not voluntary, then it is illegal. It is not about whether we want to live in filth or not. Even if I am ill, I don't need to have to tell you that because I am ill, SO I cannot participate. I have the right to refuse to participate just because I choose not to. I don't need to give anyone a reason. It is fine if people want to participate but this thing is just a lame excuse for a government that collects taxes, mismanages these funds and then wants to shirk its responsibility of keeping the environment clean, provoding facilities like litter bins etc and enforcing laws on waste disposal and littering and then pushing these responsibilities to the ordinary man in the name of National Sanitation Day. Foolishness!

Arresting and fine of individual who could not partake in a voluntary call make a huge mockery of our laws, freedoms and democracy.
Ghana government pay huge sums of money to a private owned organization whose responsibility is to clean our environment. The ignore such responsibility and our communities are horribly filthy, stinky with gutters choked so why not charge the organization for negligent but target individual citizens going about their daily work peacefully?
The sanitation problem can never be sorted-out by such nonsense of finning but through holistic public education on sanitation and behaviour change of individual Ghanaians on environmental cleanliness.

Ghana is rated the 7th most dirtiest country in the world which I am not surprised. It's all about attitude which reflects in everything we do. The Only way Ghana and Africa can move forward is through change of attitude. There are houses without toilets so what do you expect. Also government is not tackling the problem using a preventive approach and fining people using a sanitation court by sending sanitation inspectors around using cctv cameras on the streets. Also it has to be constitutionally embedded that offenders would be arrested and sent to court and pay a fine or do six months in prison. That fine would be used to pay sanitation workers, inspectors and purchase equipment. Also advertising and awareness will reduce the amount of filth. I have seen educated people litter the streets too and when ask them to pick up the litter they reply why do we have zoom lion. We name to shame anyone who litters the street by shouting at the person saying keep Ghana clean and take pictures of the person uploading it to the Internet. With all these measures we don't need sanitation day if the people are not educated and fined the problem will keep occurring no matter the number of sanitation days in a month. It's about you and I doing the right thing.

Good comments by Nii Lartey and a few others.
When I was a child growing up in Ghana, local authorities took responsibilities for waste collection and disposal, waste management, street cleaning, environmental protection and improvement, and the provision and care of public toilets.
Most local authorities had their own workers. In those days Local authorities did not contract out their responsibilities to private companies. The situation now is changed. Local authorities have out-sourced their responsibilities to the so-called private sector, and are now paying them huge amounts of money. They get paid without doing the work. No body holds them to account. As a result Ghana is very filthy.
To cover up the failure of local government, and to a large extent the national government, we have sanitation day. Individuals are expected to volunteer to do the work which local authorities are mandated to do, and for which the LAs pay huge amounts of money. How sad that poor innocent people would be prosecuted for not taking part in this exercise.
It is shameful that this should happen. It is actually unfair. It is only in Ghana that local authorities can abdicate or neglect their responsibilities, and prosecute others for their (LAs) failure.
And get away with it.

What the HECK are you talking about? If the GOV't is unable to clean the FILTH you created in your community due to their corrupt, selfish actions; you want the community to sit on the sorryASSES and DO absolutely NOTHING and especially for a woman of your lazy kind? In your village don't you always see grannies and old ladies team up weeping and cleaning up the neighborhood all day from mourning till sunset for FILTH they didn't EVEN create whilst you walk around in your little behind in little red “obroni” high heel shoes thinking you are all that. FACT: these grannies and old ladies are mostly illiterate and didn't have the chance education we had; YET they knew exactly what to do when it comes to accumulated FILTH in the community which leads to all kinds of diseases taking the lives of new born babies and innocent children in the communities whilst you show up in your black "Ayeyi" cloth at their funeral services and with crocodile tears deceitfully pretending that you're in mourning as well with the family. And what was the ROOT CAUSE? The STINKY filth just feet away from your "obroni" high heels shoes. Goosh! Don’t you have the mindset to give these little ones in your village or community the CHANCE to live? That’s what my parent thought me a child and reinforced in my FIRST grade of Class-1 hygiene class. Did your village school had water basin in the classroom with soap and water sitting just feet from your class-1 teacher and being thought to clean after yourself ? The same concept is thought in every boarding and secondary schools around the world at large. Cleaning of dorms for inspection EVERY freaking Saturday is MANDATORY irrespective of who you are ……. Period! And what happened to those weedheads and boneheads who violate these cleaning exercises in boarding or secondary schools? Cain lashes or suspension BACK to your silly, backward village they came from to knock some sense into their stupid skulls.
It’s a shame a woman or female of your lazy have this of stone-age mind-set wanting someone else to pick after you though. You’re displaying your intellectual stupidity thinking you have some peanut size brain over your shoulders you want to boast off. The last time I checked, mothers and women set the tone when it comes to hygiene.
