Common sense should tell the GHA statisticians that the monies accounted for at ALL the toll booths IN THE COUNTRY do not match the number of vehicles plying the roads. I wrote about the fraud at the toll booths among other observations I made during a visit to Ghana and although the article was generally well received it was however met with insults by a few people supposed to know better.

THE GOVERNMENT IS FULLY AWARE THAT CORRUPTION IS AT ITS APOGEE AT THE CUSTOMS AND TOLL BOOTHS TEMA PORT AND MANY OTHER PLACE IN THE COUNTRY, BUT FAILED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, BUT TO SCREAM.
THE SIMPLE COMMON SENSE APPROACH TO CORRUPTION AT GOVERNMENT OFFICES AND CUSTOMS IS TO SET UP SECURITY CAMERAS AT ALL THESE POINTS TO TRACK CORRUPT OFFICERS. PERIOD!

In this day and age why can't the authorities make use of technology to get rid of the attendants there or to keep them in check?
I believe the local council executives also get some share hence the reluctance.

If state employees are paid living wages, they wouldn't steal petty sums like ferry fares. Good pay is the answer to such roguishness.
