This doesn't make sense. How many fuel stations ar needed to service the area? Is there a licensing authority to insure there is demand before adding new stations?

INTO WHOSE EYES IS THIS NDC GOVT TRYING TO THROW DUST? IS IT NOT COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT NDC MPs, MINISTERS AND PARTY BULWARKS ARE JUST BUILDING FILLING STATIONS BY-HEART ALONG THE NATION'S BORDERS? THAT THIS COMPELLED 'THE SHARP TEETH BABY' OKUDZETO ABLAKWA TO DO THE NORMAL DENIAL ON HIS FILLING STATIONS? I WAS IN DZODZE, HON AVEDZI- CHAIRMAN FOR COMMITTEE ON FINANCE IN PARLIAMENT'S KETU-NORTH CONSTITUENCY; ADJACENT TO FIIFI KWETTEY'S KETU-SOUTH CONSTITUENCY, IN 2013 MARCH. AT THAT TIME, NATIONALIST DZODZE CITIZENS COMPLAINED ABOUT WHY THERE SHOULD BE ATTEMPTS TO CONSTRUCT 10 FILLING STATIONS ON THE 10 KILOMETRE DZODZE TO AKANU (REPUBLIC OF TOGO)ROAD. WHERE WERE THE DISTRICT AND REGIONAL SECURITY COMMITTEES THEN? AFTER PLANNING THE RAPE OF THE NATION, THEY WILL NOW PRETEND TO BE CONCERNED AND TRYING TO FIX THE 'PROBLEM'. BY SO DOING, THEY DIVERT ATTENTION FROM THEMSELVES TO OTHERS. NDC, THE CREATE, LOOT AND SHARE LIMITED (CLS). NEVER CALL ANYBODY IN THE NPP AS THIEVES AGAIN. YOU ARE THE REAL THIEVES AND RAWLINGS IS THE FATHER AND GRAND FATHER OF THIEVES. IT IS ONLY THE IGNORANT THAT WILL ALLOW THIS GROUP OF NATION-WRECKERS TO LEAD THIS NATION. SHAME, SHAME.

Hi Mr. Manu, "Ebi wo wo fie" ..so???
Just because there are other wrong doers elsewhere, THE should keep quiet right? Is that your argument?
Is this kind of thinking going to solve our problems as a nation? If it is really true that MPs and Party Cadres, which ever side they belong to, own Petrol Filling Stations, then there is something terribly wrong with our society! Why must this be allowed? The basic point of 'Conflict of Interest' should not allow these people to own such assets! It is a normal human principle that those in positions of power will always get an undue advantage and hence should desist in acquiring such ventures. However, what am I talking about? In our dear Ghana, people enter into politics as a matter of 'Personal Investment' and they seek to reap the benefit of their being in Parliament. I hear a good friend of mine who was a senior in the University and was pious, quiet, reasonable and learned, became a Big Shot in the ruling Party and now owns a string of Petrol Stations!!! May God forgive him and touch him to think again! The Faith that he claims to follow despises such things!
My advice to the Authorities is to BAN selling of petrol in jerry cans.
It should be sold only into the tanks of the vehicles or motor bikes. This , of course, would need enforcement but with the State coffers and security at stake, I would like to dream that the authorities would be up to the job!
Or am I naïve? May God help us.

Why has it taken a National Security official so long to know that fuen is being smuggled into Togo? When oe drives along the Ho-Aflao road one is shocked to see numerous fuel stations, both old, new and Work in Progress fuel stations. The logical question is: Who at the Min of Energy is giving licenses to these people to proliferate filling stations along this road? What are these officials who grant these licenses benefitting fro? Too many filling stations!!! The government should immediately take the following actions before our economy capitulates from the actions of these nation wreckers: 1. Stop issuing the licenses 2. Close down all new filling stations deemed surplus 3. Arrest any station managers aiding the smuggling. Some MPs, Ministers and party people are involved in setting up many of these stations. John Mahama, wake up as MPs and other members of your party destroy your economy. During Rawlings time, fuel smugglers were decisively dealt with. The NDc, being a successor of the PNDC should not preside over its own people helping to destroy the economy through indiscriminate setting up of fuel stations along our borders.

This is not new in Ghana. Its a booming business in the border towns of Ghana. Go to Paga. More than 50 filling stations at Paga and its environs. Fuel from Ghana to Faso, Togo And Coast is a common thing in Ghana. Diesel cars are buying super into their reserve tanks and who lot of incidents. Immigration, Border Patrol, Police have all taken their role in the smuggling of these products. A taxi can take 45,000 lits of super so therefore border fuel dealers are making money big time. God forgive the police men who detained me at Bongo 31/12/2012. Solution: Our security depts should stand up on their stomach. Aban

Oh yes, that is the truth.I am from that area and I can say for sure that, that has been the practise for years. The station managers are seriously involved in such acts all of the time. It is about time, the government brought these unpatriotic nuisance to book. It is not that place alone. Hamile and other border towns throughout the whole country are involved. I would have suggested for a task force to deal with that. But knowing what Ghanaians are, the task force would rather assist the smugglers to do it more. The Authorities should sit up! The security should do well and arrest some of these filling station managers and jail them harshly to send message to others! What a country!
