The Police did not Performed a good job, if compare similar case in the US. This was a Police chase that end up in a ditch . The first thing Police should do was to rescue the deceased to hospital since there was no exchange off fire arm then the deceased face charges after his recovery . The deceased was a suspect NOT Guilty during the Police chase therefore the Police was unprofessional and handle the case poorly . The Widow suppose to be reward . Those Police officers needs to face charges simple bcos they has no right to kill any driver that refuses to obey them .

When it comes to shooting I believe Ghanaian police are more cautious than the police in the US due to the consequences of shooting unarmed civilian in Ghana.
In this case we should blame the deceased too for not pulling over when the police chased him but continued up until he got involved in accident, something that does not make him looked innocent but a suspected armed robber.

Bro, you do needs to conduct your research very good. I have been watching American most wanted , Investigation Discovery , BIO and 48 Hours since 1991 years. There's no way you can compare Ghana Police to US Police when mention cautious. This was very simple case the that the Police supposed to save his life when the deceased was involved in accident. Remember, The Police suppose to defend them self when their life and others life is in danger but they don't have to murder a suspect that's already involved in an accident without a weapon. Bro , US is not a country that Police can just kill any how .. The US Police are working hard to protect the civilian , to avoid any LAW SUIT and to keeps
their job. The different between US and Ghana Police is 100 years and that's fact.

This is a very tragic case, but the big question is: why didn't Samuel Asabour stop after noticing that he was being chased?
Normally after noticing that one is being chased by the police, the ONE & ONLY SENSIBLE thing to do is STOP and PARK the vehicle immediately. Trying to run away from a chase ONLY worsens the situation. Because sooner or later, the police will get you.

Why are people allowed to drive around in unregistered vehicles? If you drive around an unregisterd vehicle you risk being taken for a stolen/snatched car because they all look alike. In any case, if he was driving a car he had genuinely bought and paid for, why was he speeding off? There was a similar case of this gun-runner who hid his actual business in used motorbike sales in the same vicinity (Ashaiman). Something his family and friends didnot know. when the police showed interest in his guns, he rode into a trap before he realized he had 'fucked-up', he tried to make a u-turn, the ploice won't take none of that, the result:shot dead. More of such shootings will happen if people stop driving un-registered vehicles

The police were right to have chased him down, but they were completely wrong in shooting him. The deceased however, should have stopped: if he knew honestly that he had done nothing wrong, he should have pulled over to the side of the road. The worst that can happen is that police would probably interrogate him hastily, and then they'd then take him in until proven innocent. The Government needs to educate Ghanaians on basic police-citizenry standard of operation. Ghana police also need to be equipped with computers with a software that can pull a vehicle's specifications and ownership, by just entering the registration number just as it is done in the United states. We would rather spend the tax payer's Cedis on other irrelevant things. We can go on and on , on this issue. How about the police be educated on the fact that they are there to protect the people, and not to scare them. The deceased sped off also because he was scared. In Texas, i'd rather have a conversation with a Cop, rather than have one with a stranger.

It's so obvious from the onset that you know nothing about what you are talking about. You are just making wild claims based on hear-say and a couple of police detective movies you probably watched as a kid. Your stand isn't even known. You are trying so hard to come-off as a learned individual on such cases but to say that "a suspect is taken in until proven guilty" clearly makes my point for me. Just so you know " EVERY SUSPECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY." That is the SOP(Standard Operating Procedure. Reading comments from people like you(whoever you are) is just so appalling. The police acted in a disgraceful, unprofessional and woefully misapplied unnecessry force in this instance. I sure hope you don't fall a victim to such behaviour from the police wherever you are.

IGP of Ghana should properly engage independent body like group of lawyers not police to investigate without influence from any angle to deal with this matter.(2)Police team who were trying to cover up the incident including those at police hospital Tema should be brought to book by independent body (3)Ghana police services/force should be punished by cutting substantial amount from their budget to care for all those who are depending on this poor tanker driver.(4)the said patrol team should proceed on unpaid leave immediately until the final determination of the independent investigation group.I am saying this because police should bear in mind that their pay are from we the taxpayers so they can use maximum force to calm down criminals but not such situation where police should use gun.
