Kotoko wants to use Baba Yara Sports Stadium

Accra, Aug 31, GNA - The Interim Management Team of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club has appealed to the National Sports Council (NSC) to allow them the use of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for their next Wednesday's 22nd week GT Premier League match against Tano Bofoakwa. A statement signed by Alhaji Salifu Abubakari (Njee), Chairman of the IMT said the request has been necessitated by the on-going rehabilitation work at their newly adopted Konongo Park, which is yet to be completed.

The statement also requested the NSC to grant them the use of the facility for the remainder of the football season since construction work on the Kumasi facility is yet to begin.

It said that Kotoko is prepared to relocate to the Konongo Park anytime the contractors earmarked for the works are ready to start the project.

In a related development, the management of Kotoko has expressed its gratitude to Paramount Distilleries Ghana Limited for donating 20 million cedis to the Club towards the upgrading of the Konongo Park to befit the status fit for premiership soccer.
