Ghanaian and Atletico Madrid midfielder, Thomas Partey has appealed to government and managers of football in the country to expedite actions on the issue of the Zylofon Premier League, to have it resume.
The Zylofon Premier League was suspended on grounds of corruption, bribery and mismanagement after the airing of the famous Tiger Eye PI video by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, titled Number12, where several top officials of the Ghana Football Association including the President of the association, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi were caught on tape allegedly taking bribe from suppose investors.
The government subsequently secured an injunction from the High Court to ban all football related activities in the country.
According to him, it is out of the Premier League that several talents emerge for possible selection into the senior team, Black Stars.
Speaking in an interview with Accra base Zylofon Fm, the Atletico Madrid Star expressed worry over how the ban on football will affect grassroot football and also hamper the development of football talents in the country.
“We are all not happy about what is going on at this time, the Premier League is a breeding ground for talents, and it is out of this place that most footballers find their way to the bigger clubs outside” he said.
He recognises the need for the government to take critical actions in solving the challenging bedeviling the GFA, and has further stated that, if urgency is not put in resolving the issues, lovers of football will lose complete interest in the game.
“I wish this is done very fast to allow the game to game, otherwise the fans of the game will lose interest and that will not help the game” he stated.
