RTU trounce Afienya

Tamale: Real Tamale United (RTU) played an improved game to register their highest score in the League by beating visiting Afienya United 4-0.

RTU opened the scoring in the 20th minute through outside left Fatawu Aroha who slotted home a beautiful combination between centre forward Abass Iddrisu and inside left Shila Abdulai.

Iddrisu increased the tally to two in the 38th minute from a rebound of Shilla's shot after Afienya's goalkeeper David Sharpe had failed to handle the ball first time.

The Afienya players protested against the goal by charging on Berekum-based referee Osborn Boamah Darko, thus holding up the game briefly.

The game degenerated into rough play after the goal as the referee appeared to have lost control of affairs.

RTU came back strongly from recess making it three in the 48th minute when Abass soared over Everybody else to the ball in the net.

When RTU fans looked satisfied with the scoreline, they were given a bonus goal to end a good showing when Libro Bobby Abdul-Rahman scored from a free kick.

For the first time this season, RTU supporters sang praises of their players amid drumming and dancing.
