The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo will on Tuesday July 18 2017 commission the Accra Academy Astro Turf.

Asamoah Gyan's $200,000 Accra Academy Astro Turf will officially be opened on Tuesday aftenoon by the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The project which was solely financed by the Black Stars captain, will together be commissioned first gentle of the land on Tuesday afternoon.

Gyan broke the ground for the commencement of the project in 2015

Perfectly green and smooth, adorned with flood lights, the commissioning of the turf will be a fitting thank you by Gyan to the school which honed his young talent under the tutelage of Coach JE Sarpong who was then the school’s Physical Education lecturer.

The Astro turf replaces the sandy pitch on which Gyan learnt his art.

The all-time highest scorer for the Black Stars with 51 goals, Gyan will be happy to commission the Astro turf in a school that played a great role in his great career.

The project comprises a 3,000 metre artificial turf which was imported from Turkey.

It will be a great facility for a school that believes in holistic education by developing both talents and brains at the same time.

The 31-year-old joined Turkish side Kayserispor earlier last week on a two-year deal with the option of a further one year.
