The vice president of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie, has indicated that he would prefer Samuel Inkoom to Andy Yiadom, if he were to be the coach of the senior national team, Black Stars.

Yiadom was handed his debut call-up to the national team by coach Avram Grant after his impressive start for Barnsley in this season’s English Championship.

According to the chairman of the Black Stars management committee, he was surprised at the call-up of Yiadom, but is not in a position to reject the player’s call, as he would have preferred experienced defenders like Samuel Inkoom, Godfred Saka and Yaw Frimpong as a better replacement for Afful Harrison.

He said: “If I were to be the coach, I would have preferred Samuel Inkoom, Godfred Saka and Yaw frimpong for the right back position, but I’m not in the position to select players for the team.

When we enquired about the call-up of the player, Grant told us he was impressed with the player when he watched him play for Barnsley against Newcastle in the championship and, his consistency for the club prompted his call-up,” he told Asempa Fm.
