GFA Chairman denies statement.

The chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Alhaji Jawula has vehemently denied a statement reported to have been issued by him stating that the two Ghanaian coaches will be sacked when they arrived in Ghana. Alhaji Jawula described the statement as false, saying that he had nothing to do with it. Last night, Ghana Television news carried a story indicating that the GFA chairman had issued a statement to the effect that the two National team coaches, Sam Arday and Rinus Israel would be sacked when they arrive in Ghana. Alhaji Jawula stated that a decision to dismiss the two coaches cannot be taken in Burkina Faso by only a hand full of the FA members and needed a lot of discussions and consultation with the other executive members of the FA as well as government. He therefore described the statement issued in his name as a "stab in the back" and thought it was a little unfair on the part of whoever issued the statement in his name. Asked to comment on the resignation of assistant coach Sam Arday, Mr. Jawula said it is rather unfortunate for the coach to resign at that time, adding that there was some attempt to delay the coming out of the letter. On the issue of Dutch coach, Rinus Israel, discussions are still going on and a decision on his appointment will be taken in due course. In other news, the Guinean National team has been fined 500 dollars for gross indiscipline. Three other players of the team have also been fined 500 dollars each for indiscipline after their match against Burkina Faso. The Guinean goalkeeper is reported to have manhandled the referee after the match.
