RTU players threaten boycott over unpaid allowances

Players of Glo Premier League basement club Real Tamale United have threatened to boycott the club’s upcoming GPL matches unless they are paid their allowances that are overdue.

RTU left back Michael Boakye confirmed the news, noting that club’s management has broken several promises to the players.

“The players even threatened to boycott the MTN FA Cup match against Aduana Stars last Sunday but the management spoke to us and so we went to Dormaa. We have still seen nothing and so we will boycott the league match this Sunday against Amidaus Professionals.”

Boakye accused the club’s management of reneging on its promise of giving the players contract forms, noting that nothing was done to strengthen the team with new players at the end of the first round.

“The management told us they would give us contract forms but this was not done. Again, we were expecting to see new players to strengthen the side, but nothing has been done. So as a body of players, we will not undergo training this afternoon.”

Real Tamale United prop up the league log with 5 points from 15 matches so far.
