Ghanaian players abroad wrap-up

ITALY

Sulley Muntari played all 90 minutes and Kevin Prince Boateng came on after 60 minutes as Italian born Ghanaian, Mario Balotteli netted a crucial equalizer to give AC Milan a share of the spoils, 1-1 at Cagliari.

Isaac Coffie played for 64 minutes before he was substituted for Chievo Verona as they lost 3-1 at Inter Milan for wgo Joseph Duncan did not even make the bench but Amidu Salifu was only on the bench for Catania in their goalless stalemate at Atalanta.

In Serie B, Yussif Raman Chibsah was an unused substitute for Sassuolo as they won 3-1 at Pro Vercelli whilst Parma loanee, Bright Addae was absent for Crotone in their 1-0 win over bottom side, Grosetto who also did not feature Yaw Asante.

Elsewhere, Boadu Acosty played all 90 minutes and compatriot Daniel Agyei was a 70th minute substitute for Juve Stabbia as they lost 2-4 at home to Novara who did not feature even on the bench any of their Ghanaian players, Masahudu Alhassan and Ahmed Apimah Barruso.

AC Milan loanee Edmund Etse Hottor was completely absent for Virtus Lanciano in their 3-2 win over Citadella.

FRANCE

The injured Dede Ayew was absent for Marseille but kid brother, Jordan came on as a substitute in the 73rd minute, got yellow carded a minute later before receiving another caution, another minute later to get sent off in the 75th minute as 9-man Olympique Marseille drew 1-1 at Evian TG who had their Ghanaian duo of Rabiu Mohammed and Jonathan Mensah absent on Africa Cup duty with the Black Stars.

Elsewhere, Ishmael Yartey was on the bench all game for Sochaux in their 0-0 draw at Troyes.

Meanwhile, change of leagues has not brought any joy to neither Michael Abu nor Samuel Inkoom as both could not make even the bench for their respective new sides in Ligue 1. Abu was absent for Lorient as they drew 1-1 at Nice whilst Inkoom failed to make the Bastia team that lost 3-1 at PSG on Friday.

In Ligue 2, Haminu Dramani was again absent for Arles Avignon in their 1-1 draw at Nantes whilst 20 year old French born Ghanaian, Dennis Appiah did not feature for AS Monaco in as they won 2-1 against Le Havre.

ENGLAND

Black Stars’ chasing Emmanuel Frimpong lasted 64 minutes for Fulham who drew goalless at Nowrich City in the Premier League.

In the championship, PrinceBuaben again failed to make the Watford squad as Gianfranco Zola’s side threw away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 against Crystal Palace whilst Bristol City, albeit without Albert Adomah beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 but are still stuck in the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Jeffrey Schulpp who has reportedly had his purported one-week training at Manchester United extended to three weeks now was absent for Leicester City’s 1-2 loss at Peterborough.

In League 2, Andrew Yiadom played all 90 minutes for struggling Barnet as they held leaders, Port Vale 0-0.

SPAIN

Michael Essien was excellent all 90 minutes as Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick for Real Madrid who beat Sevilla 4-1 but Mubarak Wakaso and Anthony Annan of course were absent for Espanyol and Osasuna respectively due to their Africa Cup of Nations commitments.

GERMANY

Ghana-pursuit Karim Bellarabi, born to a Ghanaian father and Moroccan mother in Berlin and who has played for Germany at U-21 levelwas absent for Bayer Leverkusen in their 3-3 draw at Borussia Monchengladbach.

18 year old Abdul Rahman Baba played all 90 minutes for Greuther Furth but could not help them avoid a 0-1 home loss to Wolfsburg which keeps them bottom of Bundesliga on 12 points from 21 games.

Teenage international, Afriyie Acquah was completely absent from the Hoffeinheim squad that lost 0-1 at Hannover 96.

BELGIUM

Bernard Yao Kumordzi played all 90 minutes for Genk as they won 2-0 at Beerschott, Enock Kofi Adu came on in the 85th minute for Club Brugge who won 3-1 over OH Leuven whilst Daniel Opare again featured all match for Standard Liege in their 0-1 loss to Mons after also playing all 90 minutes in their 2-2 draw at leaders, Anderlecht last week.

Abdul-Yajinu Iddi lasted 84 minutes for Mechelen in their 2-0 win over Cercle Brugge whilst in the clash of Ghanaians, Albert Kudemor was sidelined by injury for Sporting Chaleroi as they won 1-0 over Lierse for whom Richard Ofori featured for 90 minutes but Rahim Ayew was out suspended.

HOLLAND

Kwame Quansah lasted all game for Almelo Heracles in their 4-1 win over Willem II whilst Dutch-born Ghanaian winger Memphis Depaywas again on the bench for PSV in their 2-2 draw at Vitesse.

Elsewhere, Nana Kwesi Asare played all 90 minutes for Utrecht in their 0-3 home loss to NEC, Fred Benson started for PEC Zwolle in the late kickoff against Twente but Mattew Amoah’s statistics since joining Heerenveen at the beginning of the season remains played zero, scored zero after again missing their 2-2 draw against VVV.

PORTUGAL / CYPRUS

David Addy played all 90 minutes but could not help Vitoria Guimaraes as they lost 0-2 at Estoril whilst William Tiero came on as a 57th minute substitute for Gil Vicente in their 1-0 loss at Vitoria Setubal.

In Cyprus, former Ghana goal king, Shaibu Yakubu was absent for Enosis who won 3-2 at Olympiakos whilst Carlos Ohene who only last month switched Alki for champions AEL Limassol, was completely absent as compatriot Christopher Dickson but another Ghanaian, Ebo Andoh was an 87th minutes substitute for AEL in their 3-1 win at Ethnikos Achna.
