Satellites’ skipper confident of beating Morocco

Lawrence Lartey, captain of the national under 20 male soccer team, Black Satellites, has told URA Radio Sports in Bolgatanga that the team is targeting a win in Rabat in the return leg of the Africa youth championship qualifier against Morocco.

The Satellites hold a resounding 4-1 advantage going into the second leg on Friday, and most football fans in the country believe that they are already qualified for Algeria 2013 Africa U-20 tournament.

But Ashantigold defender Lartey has emphasized that the team are well aware of what is in stock for them in Rabat and will not be complacent but will rather go all out to get a win there. Lartey further stated that even though the team is not yet in Morocco, they are already aware of the antics of North African sides especially when they are playing on their home grounds.

The Satellites’ captain also revealed that motivation in the camp has been much encouraging and that he and his teammates are determined to qualify for the 2013 Africa youth championship to be staged in Algeria next year, adding that they can only achieve this by going all out against the Moroccans even though a draw will not be a bad result.

The Satellites head into the second leg with a huge advantage after beating the Young Atlas Lions 4-1 in the first leg at the Tamale Stadium just over a week ago. They depart Ghana for Morocco on Wednesday knowing very well they have to avoid a 3-0 score line on Friday in Rabat to qualify for the 19 th edition of the Africa youth championship in Algeria from 16-30 March 2013.
