Waris eyes Swedish goal king title

Abdul Majeed Waris is not getting any of the hype and especially links to some of Europe’s biggest clubs get into his head at all.

The Ghanaian hitman tells 90 MINUTES his concentration at the minute is on safely claiming the goalking title in Sweden’s top flight and topping it with an upset league triumph with unfancied Hacken.

Waris has scored a league topping 18 goals in 20 games, 5 clear of his closest challenger in the goal king race. His goals have powered Hacken to 2nd place after the Black Stars striker opened the scoring against Gefle in the 53rd minute on Monday. Ghanaian compatriot Nasiru Mohammed secured the points with a superb effort twenty minutes from time in Allvesnkan Match Day 22 fixture.

The striker who turned on Wednesday and who has recently earned his maiden two caps for the senior national team told 90 MINUTES:

“I have been working very hard on improving and I think that’s my goal for the season. There are a lot of offers but I have to accomplish my goal of winning the goal king in Sweden then I can move on.”

He continued: “The club is also doing well and it will be almost unbelievable to win the league title but we’ll keep working hard and hope things will go our way.”
