New generation coaches must tap into experiences

Football coaches now have a guide to refer to in the hope of leading them to the top of the world game, Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi says.

The GFA President has tasked the new generation of coaches to draw inspiration from the book, ‘Principles of Modern Soccer Coaching’, authored by FIFA and Caf instructor, Ben Koufie.

The 26-chapter book, made up of 174 pages takes a detailed look into the coaching profession as it gives an insight on all aspects of the game including research, training, preparation, tactics and systems.

"This book is a celebration of one of the greats of Ghana football. His thoughts on the game reminds all of us of a genius all-round football man," said Kwesi Nyantakyi at the launch of the first coaching book by a Ghanaian as he praised the quality contribution of the 80-year-old former Ghana Football Association Chairman, Ben Koufie.

"It's a book laden with experience. We welcome the documentation of experiences and this book sets the trend of how coaching in Africa has developed.

"It's a befitting legacy bequeathed to the football family. I hope it can be an inspiration to the new generation of coaches."

The first copy, autographed by Ben Koufie was bought by renowned businessman and a member of the football family, Dr Kofi Amoah for Ghc 10,000.
