Boateng on a mission to win back starting place at Dnipro

Derek Boateng must fix damaged relationships with Dnipro coach and fans in order to win back a starting place in the team.

The Ghana international in his bid to force his move to Fulham made certain remarks which angered Dnipor owner and also ended up crippling his relationship with coach Juande Ramos.

The 29-year-old’s dream move to the English Premier League however fell through for readily unknown reasons (suspicion of disputes over personal terms) after the Ukrainian club had earlier agreed on a fee with the Cottagers.

And since the move did not materialize, Boateng must now work extra hard to win back the affection of the club owner, manager and fans to ensure he does not rot in the reserves just like compatriot Samuel Inkoom.

The situation could have a negative effect on the Black Stars as Boateng is increasingly becoming the main cog in the Ghanaian midfield.

He therefore needs to regain regular first team action to retain his position especially with the prospective return of Michael Essien following his loan move to Real Madrid.

Ghana is an overwhelming favourite to challenge for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa but must first account for Malawi in the ultimate qualifier.

The Black Stars will host The Flames in Accra on September 8, play a friendly aganst Liberia three days later before traveling for the return encounter.
