Kyere open to Chelsea move

Egypt based attacking midfielder Samuel Kyere is open to a move to Berekum Chelsea, he has exclusively told 90 MINUTES.

The 29 year old Kyere says the political crisis in Egypt which resulted in the suspension of the top flight league in that country, does his career no good. Hence the wish to join the CAF Champions’ League campaigners.

Reliable Chelsea sources have confirmed that talks are far advanced to sign on the attacking midfielder.

“Everything went well for me in Egypt, things were smooth but the break of the league has come hard. As a player I can’t sit down without playing because it’s not good for my career,” Samuel Kyere told the paper. He continued: “So I am really interested in joining Chelsea because they are a very good team who will help me improve greatly because I will need to keep my work rate high. I would be glad to join them and I will work very hard for the team to win more trophies.” His only Ghana cap came in November 2008 against Tunisia and Kyere but is looking to attract the attention of Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah in a bid to earn a recall. He however still regards the Egyptian Premier League highly and is grateful for the experience and good times he had in that country playing for clubs as Haras Al Hodood, Arab Contractors, El-Ittihad El-Iskandary, Sholta Goldi and of course Ittihad El Sholta since 2003 when he left Berekum Arsenal, incidentally Chelsea’s town rivals.

“You can see the way Ahly played against Chelsea last Sunday? The Egyptian league is very strong with some really good teams so the experience I gained there was huge. But the Ghanaian league is getting stronger and I will be delighted to be part of it especially at a club like Chelsea,” Kyere said.

The player added: “I also remember the Black Stars because I still have very good memories from when I was there. Many big players like Essien, Muntari, Paintsil were all there and it was a good experience. Of course it will be an honour to be called again.”
