No Ghanaian in CAF's team of the tournament

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the list of the best eleven players of the 23rd Cup of Nations, which ended on Sunday in Bamako, Mali. No Ghanaian player was nominated. An eleven-member jury comprising members from CAF, FIFA as well as CAF media committee named the members of the African XI team.

In naming their best players of the Cup of Nations, the CAF has singled out Senegal's Tony Sylva as the best keeper of the tournament.

The CAF technical committee revealed the team of the tournament yesterday, naming Monaco's third-choice keeper as the best ahead of Cameroon's Alioum Boukar.

The team's defenders are Nigeria's Taribo West, Ifeanyi Udeze, Cameroon's Rigobert Song and Egypt captain Hany Ramzy.

South Africa's Subisiso Zuma, Mali's Seydou Keita, Algeria's Rafik Saifi and Julius Aghahowa of Nigeria are in the midfield, with Cameroon's Patrick Mboma and Senegal's El Hadji Diouf as twin strikers.
