MTN Ghana launches 'Africa United' soccer campaign

Accra, June 2, GNA - Cellular giants, Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) on Wednesday launched the 'Africa United' soccer campaign as part of their support for the South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup. The campaign themed "Africa united, rally behind African teams" serves to push the African participants to win the coveted trophy at the first ever World Cup to be staged on the continent.

George Andah, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana said the 'Africa United' campaign is a concept and philosophy his outfit are promoting through their regional offices to reaffirm their contribution to Africa's development.

He said MTN is proud of the fact they are operational in five of the six African representatives for the June 11 to July 11, 2010 tournament, namely Ghana, Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Nigeria and hosts South Africa. Andah added that provisions have been made for staff of MTN, stakeholders and the general sporting public to enjoy the live viewing of the games during the tournament with over 20 viewing centers to be cited across the country.

"These include Accra International Conference Centre, Silverbird Cinema, Osu Oxford Street, Legon Botanical Gardens, Takoradi Jubilee Park, Ho Pension Hall and Tamale amongst other venues." Andah announced that 20 MTN members of staff will be in South Africa to witness the historic tournament with fully paid FIFA packages whilst others stand the chance of winning interesting prizes in the predict and win competitions and daily countdown activations. MTN is the only African multinational sponsor for the South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup.
