Bortei Doku and Leticia win Tamaklo Memorial Golf competition

Accra, Feb. 21, GNA - Bortei Doku and Leticia Amponsah-Mensah became the proud winners of Tamaklo Memorial Open Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday. Doku returned a net score of 65 to win the Men's category while Leticia secured a 71 net score when she beat Beatrice Vetsch-Bempong and Mona Myles-Lamptey on count-back to emerge champion in the Ladies segment with Joy Arkutu and Esther Amedzro taking the fourth and fifth positions, with 73 and 74 net scores respectively.

In the Men's event, Sowah Odoi took the second position with 68 net, Yaw Assah-Sam placed third with 70 net, while Nii Camara took the fourth position when he beat Frank Adu on count-back. In the Juniors' encounter, Bright Logo came first with 71 net with John Quarshie taking the second position with 73 net.

The one-day event was in memory of the late Dr Kwami Nyaho Tamaklo, Founder of the Nyaho Medical Centrem Accra and a senior member of the Achimota Golf Club who died in the year 2001. The championship was sponsored by the Centre.

Mr Mike Aggrey, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club described the late Dr Tamaklo as a member whose contributions made the Club what it is today and called on the members to emulate his shining example. Mrs Janet Tamaklo, Chief Executive of Nyaho Medical Centre was assisted by Mr Aggrey to present prizes to the winners.
