Amponsah excused from Stars duty

Black Stars defender, Kofi Amponsah will not play a part in Ghana’s opening 2010 World Cup/African Nations Cup qualifier on Sunday against Libya.

Amponsah who plays for Greek club, Appollon Kalamarias has been excused from duty to enable him attend to his ailing mother.

The defender was part of the 23-man squad announced on Monday for the opening round of the joint qualifiers of the 2010 World Cup/African Nations Cup tournaments.

The absence of Amponsah leaves the Ghanaian technical team with three central defenders - John Mensah, Francis Dickoh and Eric Addo – to choose from.
