Aboakyer Open Golf tees off on May 3

Accra, April 29, GNA - This year's Aboakyer Open Golf Championship tees off on Saturday, May 3 at the Windy Bay Golf Course at Winneba in the Central Region.

Mr Joseph Eshun Fameye, Captain of the Windy Bay Golf Club, who announced this in Accra on Tuesday, said the one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition, which is open to amateur golfers from across the country, is to be sponsored by Donewell Insurance Company Limited.

He said the competition which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Windy Bay Golf Club, has Handicap 24 as the entry point.

Mr Fameye said about 100 golfers are expected to participate in the competition which continues to generate interest year after year. The President, Mike Ezan and his Vice Captain, Mike Aggrey as well as Nick Small Man, all of the Achimota Golf Club are expected to participate in the nine-year-old competition.

Four prizes will be awarded in the Men's Division with three in the Ladies category.

Professor George Ntsiful, President of the Ghana Golf Association is expected to take the ceremonial tee-off.

Mr Robert Abeiku Onomah, Winneba Branch Manager of Donewell Insurance Company limited will lead officials of the company to grace the occasion.
