All Blacks split points with Faisal in Kumasi

Kumasi, April 28, GNA - Visiting Swedru Gamba All Blacks managed a 1-1 drawn game to hold Kumasi based King Faisal in the second round of their rescheduled Onetouch Premier League match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Monday evening.

Faisal took the lead in the 17th minute through Abraham Basit when he capitalised on a defensive blunder to score thus drawing the admiration of the sparse spectators at the stadium. All Blacks accepted the challenge and nearly leveled up in the 22nd minute but Obed Owusu's powerful header from Clement Coffie sailed over the bar.

The visitors who looked well composed continued to pile pressure and shooting from all angles in an effort to get the equalizer but the defence of Faisal stood gallantly to thwart their effort at goal. King Faisal took over proceedings and earned an indirect free kick in the vital area of the visitors in the 29th minute but Eric Agyeman shot wide while Ofosu Mickey also wasted a golden opportunity to end the first half.

On resumption of the second half, All Blacks improved on their game plan and nearly equalized but the chance that came their way in the 48th minute was again wasted by Owusu. All Blacks from then on took absolute control of the game inter-spacing their passes with beautiful and accurate passes and managed to cancel the goal in the 52nd minute through Owusu with a well tailored right footer. Determined to win the day, Faisal mounted series of forays for the last quarter of the match but the defence of All Blacks refused to bulge till the final whistle. 29 April 08
