Sammy Adjei Bares Teeth

Ghana goalkeeper, Sammy Adjei has told his Israeli club Ashdod, he will play for his country at this month's African Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars second choice keeper is the only invited player yet to report at Ghana pre- Nations Cup training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The player's agent says the keeper is prepared to disobey the club and face the consequences.

" I cannot convince them.He is fighting to go to play for his nation. In reality the Boy has to go because i have made it clear to them that FIFA will put a ban on the boy and them," Isaac Asiedu told Ghanasoccernet

" I don't think i have to convince them because we don't owe them nothing. I don't have to beg them. It's a reality the Boy has to go and that's the regulation."

Ashdod are reported to have told the Ghana international not to report for the soccer event and were expected to release him by Sunday, 14 days to the start of the tournament.

FIFA requires clubs to release players 14 days before the start of a major international tournament but it seems Ashdod are adamant to release the keeper.

The Ghana Football Association had threatened to reports the matter to FIFA if Sammy's release was delayed.

The Israeli media has reported that Adjei's contract will be cancelled immediately if he joins the Black Stars for the African Cup of Nations.

Adjei has been told that his contract will not be renewed when it expires on 31 May.
