AAG: Ghana Seek South Africa Victory

Ghana bounces back for action in the men’s football event at the 9th All Africa Games when the Black Meteors line up against South Africa today(Friday).

After an opening defeat to Cameroon in the opening Group A, the Black Meteors would need a win to stay in contention of reaching the medal zone at the Games.

The game at the Rouiba stadium would see two opening day losers battle for the maximum points while the other contestants in the group, Cameroon and Tunisia slug it out.

And to stay alive in the competition, team coach, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio says Ghana are hopeful of picking a win over the Amaglug-glug who also lost their opening game to Tunisia.

“We would need to win to stay in contention. We would pick up from where we left off and I think we can pull a win,” a confident Cecil Jones Attuquayefio said.

Ghana, bronze medallist in the last edition of the Games despite the defeat on the opening day are still tipped as one of the competitions favourites.

The Games, which represents Africa’s version of the Olympic Games draws lots of countries to participate in a host of sporting events is been hosted by Algeria for the second time after 1978.
