The up coming Finals of the Under 13 Football ASK Foundation Tournament in Nima has attracted lots of patrons including the Chief Imam who has blessed the event and promised the send a representative to witness the occasion.
Also supporting the idea are the Ministry of Youth & Sports, the Ghana Football Association and the Professional Footballers Association who have donated balls to be presented to the participants and winners.
The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) and the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) are all in support of the idea of using education to develop and promote football in deprived areas.
The participating teams are Polo Football Club (Kotobabi) who have automatically won the league follow by Nima Amighty Kiitos FC, Legon All Stars, Heroes FC, Dynamic FC and Assyriska Football Club. On Saturday 14th December, the scouted selected players will play with the winning team to mark the end of the 2013 sports for education Under 13 league and that would be the grand date for rewarding all who contributed to the success of the programme.
According to Mustapha Mohammed, President of the ASK Foundation some foreign interests have been shown and their partners from Brazil and the United Kingdom are very mush impressed with the organization and interest shown by the players and fans. Mr George Nyame aka Mr. Ghana who has supported most sports events than many supporters groups has promised to thrill patrons of the finals with his marvelous dancing steps. Reverend Osei Kofi who witnessed the opening ceremony congratulated the young organisers for their wonderful idea and prayed that the programme would be sustained as there are many footballers coming up.
Anthony Baffoe of the PfAG said young footballers must learn other things like hygiene and leaving in a clean environment. He tasked the ASK Foundation to keep their programme alive by going to other deprived areas in the country to share the good message and offer entertainment to the kids
