President John Agyekum Kufuor is expected to commission the refurbished Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, December 16, 2007, at 4pm.
As part of the ceremony, a special international friendly has been arranged between Ghana's U-17 soccer team and its counterparts from Cote d'Ivoire.
According to the deputy public relations officer of the National Sports Council, Isaac Franklin, the following rates will be charged to enable many spectators witness the said event;
Red Stand (North) -GH ¢2.00
Green Stand (South) -GH ¢2.00
Yellow Stand ( Centre) -GH ¢5.00
VIP Stand -GH ¢10.00
The commissioning ceremony will serve as a rehearsal to ascertain the readiness of the 40,528-capacity stadium, for Ghana 2008.
All who intend witnessing this historic event should exhibit the utmost civility, to ensure an incident free event.
The Council wishes also to advise supporters groups who display Ghana flags with names of brand products imprinted on them to desist from such acts, since such act is another form of ambush marketing, and also desecrates the national flag.
The Council assures the general public of a very enjoyable event on Sunday.
