Asante Kotoko player Kwame Boahen has disclosed that his team mate Yakubu Mohammed is being motivated to exhibit his best performance on the field of play anytime for the team.

Kotoko on Sunday defeated debutants Bolga All stars 2-1 at home to lift their hopes of staying in contention for the title.

The Porcupine Warriors took a two-goal lead in the first half before Bolga All Stars got a consolation goal later in the game.

Former AshGold striker Yakubu Mohammed scored a goal but failed to convert a penalty and in addition missed several goal-scoring opportunities in the game. The striker has had a difficult season and has not impressed fans of the Reds.

Kwame Boahen in a post-match press conference told journalists that his team mate is going through difficult times and the Kotoko players keep motivating him. “I think as a striker, what is expected of him is goals.

He scored a goal but missed several chances including a penalty. “When he missed it, we kept motivating him so that he could score more.

“He is our player, we cannot discourage him. We keep encouraging him so that he remains confident even at difficult times till he gets on his feet to score more goals.”

Kotoko is currently 4th on the Ghana Premier League table with 39 points, 8 points behind league leaders Aduana Stars.
