Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has received a ringing endorsement from his Aston Villa team-mate Jordan Veretout who says the Ghanaian player is 'very clean technically'.

The son of Ghana legend Abedi Pele has become a key player for the English Premier League side he is their main goal threat in recent weeks.

Ayew endured a very difficult start to his life with the Birmingham-based club but has recovered to become Villa’s joint top scorer in the Premier League so far this season, equal with Rudy Gestede on three goals.

The Ghanaian scored against against Swansea, Tottenham and Watford at a time that Aston Villa have been struggling to test opposition defences.

The 24-year-old Ayew's performances have not gone unnoticed by his team-mate Veretout, who followed Ayew over from France in the summer.

Veretout said: “I have been very impressed with Jordan.

“I think he is getting better every week - and he is scoring goals for the team and contributing a lot overall.

“Jordan is a real fighter. That’s a very good quality he has.

“He is also very clean technically. He is excellent on the ball and has real precision with his passing - and it’s also tough for defenders to get him off the ball.

“He makes very good decisions on the ball offensively too.”

Ayew has seen his confidence soar since joining Aston Villa from French side Lorient on a five-year deal in the summer.
