New De Clem FC triumphed in the maiden National U-13 gala tournament held on Wednesday 25th May at the plush Unity Park in Tantra Hill, Accra.

The event organised by Accra based FW Sports Consult, a sports management company that aims to help nurture the future stars of Ghana football featured 8 juvenile clubs from across the Greater-Accra Region.

The teams were paired into 2 groups of four for the 8-a-side tournament with the host club, Final Whistle U-13 placed into Group A alongside New De Clem FC, Divine Soccer Rangers and Everlasting Power FC. Whereas City Power Fc, Real Raskid, Universal Soccer Academy and Sunshine Plus Football Clubs were paired in Group B.

The youngsters showed a lot of finesse and panache in a lot of thrilling contests. Despite the lack of goals; with as many as 8 games ending in 0-0 draws, the young lads displayed enough tricks and flicks including great composure on the ball to ensure the future of the game in Ghana was bright.

After the first round of matches, New De Clem FC topped group A with Final Whistle coming second whilst City Power topped group B with Universal Soccer Academy finishing second.

There was no semi-final fixture paving the way for Final Whistle to play against Universal Soccer Academy for the 3rd place match.

The final was a trilling affair despite ending 1-1. New De Clem held their nerves to edge City Power FC in the penalty shootout to clinch the trophy. A trophy, cash prize and souvenirs were awarded to New De Clem, whilst second placed City Power FC also received a cash prize with some souvenirs. Third placed Universal Soccer Academy also took home some souvenirs whilst every single player who participated in the tournament took home a certificate of participation.
There were also souvenirs for Richard Safo who was named player of the tournament including awards for top scorer, best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder and best forward after a very successful event.

As far as FW Sports Consult is concerned, this was just a curtain raiser for a match bigger National Under 15 tournament to be organised in July which would be sponsored by Italian kit manufacturer, Garman.
