IN MIXING THE ASPHALT, THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE, RIGHT CONCENTRATION ETC. ARE NEVER FOLLOWED BECAUSE PEOPLE(BOTH CONTRACTORS AND THE POLITICIANS WHO GAVE THE CONTRACT) TAKE OUT LARGE CHUNKS OF THE MONEY BEFORE THE WORK STARTS. NOW WHILE THE IDEA OF CONCRETE ROADS IS GREAT, WE WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE CONCRETE ROADS THAT SPOIL IN LESS THAN SIX MONTHS IF THE RIGHT CONCENTRATIONS OF CEMENT, THE RIGHT TYPE OF CEMENT AND OTHER INPUTS ARE NOT USED. IN FACT,WE MAY FIND OURSELVES IN A WORSE SITUATION THAN BEFORE BECAUSE THE CONCRETE ROADS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE.
HAS THE HONORABLE VICE PREZ AND HIS ADVISERS THOUGHT ABOUT ALL THIS? AND DO THEY HAVE SOLUTIONS FOR THESE PROBLEMS, WHICH INDEED ARE THE SAME OLD PROBLEMS OF HUMAN GREED AND AVARICE AND CORRUPTION. THAT, MY FRIENDS, IS WHERE THE REAL PROBLEM LIES. GOD SAVE GHANA.

Somebody tell the vice president that the problem is not about the roads being built with concrete, asphalt or bitumen. Its about proper supervision being done to make sure the right mix etc are followed. The Nyamoransa Junction- Takoradi road which is asphalt was built over thirty years ago and it is still going strong. The Motorway the Vice P is using as an example is a death trap at the moment and the government should find money to repair it.
