This is not true! I was in primary class 6. My uncles dog started behaving strangely. It took off running. Thinking that it might pose a danger to people, my uncle and I took sticks and ran after it until we caught up with it. We then killed it. Is that too not euthanasia? This was in 1972. I am claiming the credit for my late uncle and myself.

A responsible publication would not be putting up this unsubstantiated claim. This is not the first time a dog has to be put down. It's down all the time for various reasons.

And how did the vetrinary Doctors obtain the consent of the Dog for the authanasia to be carried out. Animal rights must step into this to seek redress in a law court and if fairness is to be applied. No-one has the right to take any living things life particularly when the animal was not bought from the owner, evidence of which should confer right to kill by legitimate right of ownership.

Rot! Bunkum and balderdash! I remember that when I worked in veterinary in....withheld...we had T61 which we used occasionally but rarely. Only in cases where the prognosis was hopeless then we euthanized with the consent of the animals owner. But the T61 which we had went long beyond its expiry date, but was still effective. Then it got finished in the establishment where I worked! A junior colleague just thought up the possibility of using AMITRAZ intracardial and told me it worked, even though ethically it was wrong to use it. Why? I remember faintly T61 contains phenolbarbiturate which intravenously puts the organism ito a painless sleep and death! The report should have said...FIRST RABIES CONNECTED EUTHANASIA...But, here again..i am sure the older retired vets would have a good laugh on that as some such were surely done at the head office at AOsu Ako Adjie Area. Just call Dr. Konney or Mrs. Dr. Tonyinga or older vets and the real story will be told.....

Euthanasia means mercy killing.A human being suffering too much from an ailment may wish to be taken off life-support by doctors,in order to end the excessive suffering.

Even if there are vaccines, where are the men
to carry out mass vaccination in the
hinterlands where rabies is endemic? The
manner at which GoG is handling veterinary
profession in Ghana is very appalling. The very
few
professionals trained on the country's
resources are at home. Why won't we
witness the recent incidents?
Let us not forget that most of slaughter
facilities in the country lack veterinary staff to
inspect meat and meat products. Quarantine
stations are deserted for lack of vets giving
rise to transboundary diseases communicable
from animals to man. The activities of quacks
have resulted antimicrobial resistance in
human bodies making healing impossible
whenever we visit hospitals. Cancer is of no
exception. 75% of diseases in man originates
from animals. Anthrax, recent incidence of
tuberculosis in Ghanaians, brucellosis is
rendering most Ghanaians sterile and barren.
All kinds of worm infestations, salmonella
typhoid, weil's disease and whole lot. Yet
Government of Ghana has paid a death ear to
veterinary services in Ghana in recent times.
Most of the huge tonnage of imported meats
and meat products at our ports and harbours
go unchecked for lack of vets. Where do we
stand as people of this sovereign state?
Meanwhile technical hands trained by the
country's only college on the country's
resources are homed with their expertise.
