Did I tell you to appear in your useless family,God knows how evil,envious and jealous you are that's why he sent you to where you are hateful lot. Poverty and misery will be your potion. Some of us have no doubt in the ability and competence of Justice Sophia.It showed in her vetting beyond the political mischief and propaganda of nepotism on the part of the President.I agree with many who hailed the President choice of CJ as spot-on.However,what is he going to do to rid the judiciary of rot.The problem of selective justice is real in this Country.The Justice system favors the rich and powerful much to the detriment of ordinary citizenry who are usually victims of all manner of abuse.It appears high profile public servants and politicians in this Country are untouchable in the face of the laws of the Country.In instances of cases against such persons,justice is simply circumvented.If the ordinary Ghanaian cannot seek redress and obtain justice in our courts,then it stands to reason that we are not in a democratic state where rule of law is applicable.Karl Max in many of his writings bemoaned how the rich control the system.Unfortunately,the only platform in Ghana that is allowing the rich and powerful to exploit and abuse poor,defenseless citizens is our courts.In this country,some high profile politicians and public servants engage in all manner of nasty atrocities against powerless citizens with the justice system sitting aloof because they have the financial capacity and power to bribe and gag up cases in the court that do not favor them.Poor Ghanaians have been exploited,cheated victimized and abuse in one way of the other ranging from seizure of properties including parcels of lands,not paid for work done,abused verbally,physically,sexually and unfairly and illegally dismissed from public institutions.When these cases get to court they are simply gagged up through connivance to protect powerful figures in government institutions.One of the biggest problem in this country is that we have very good labour laws with a National Labour Commission that have powers equivalent to a high court.But why the persistent abuse of the Ghanaian worker in our public institutions especially by top politicians and civil servants?There have been many instances of victimization and persecution of public workers including illegal dismissals clearly against the Labour Act.It is common knowledge that politicians in this Country have in many instances orchestrated transfers and dismissals of civil servants illegally clearly on the bases of personal vendetta.Unfortunately,these are the cases gagged up in our courts and left to rot in favour of these high profile civil servants and politicians often as villains against defenseless citizens as victims.There are several of such cases sitting in our high courts including the human rights court.In fact most of these illegal dismissals of the Ghanaian civil servant target those who want to remain incorruptible and professional in their work.To say institutional corruption is flourishing in the Ghanaian Public Institution with the justice system including the judiciary playing an active role is an understatement.If the judiciary could just be a little proactive it would have been very helpful.Unfortunately the corruption syndicate in our public institutions extends to the judiciary.It is not for nothing the hardworking Ghanaian who wants to remain incorruptible are easily but illegally purged out to be let down by the justice system.They key culprits in this network of judiciary corruption against genuine litigants seeking justice with very good cases against abuse of the Ghanaian civil servant and public worker are the AG Department,Hired Lawyers,Court Clerks and unfortunately Judges.I cannot see how endemic corruption can be fought in this country when the justice system is quick to cover corrupt high profile civil servants and politicians who are the main actors in corruption in public institutions and who in turn do everything possible to protect its sanctity.If the judiciary and AG have the will power and courage to expose and punish corrupt top persons,then we are in good business of dealing with graft which to me appears a herculean task for any Chief Justice or Attorney General.Will Jusice Sophia be the first to institute reforms to cleanse judiciary corruption which is the stimulus to institutionalized corruption in the public set up?Let's wait and see.
