These knee-jerk actions by the president regarding the lynching of the Captain should await a full-scale, thorough investigation of the circumstances on the ground that led to such a brutal, senseless act by the indigenes of Denkiyra- Obuasi. The issues involved here are very complex and I think what the President is doing amounts to window-dressing. While I believe that the youth who have become angry and incensed about losing their daily bread from the galamsey activities should face the full rigor of the law, if it turns out from an objective investigation, that the military brass sent the Captain into a conflicting situation in order to protect the vital capital and business interests of foreigners who were degrading the ecosystem in the area illegally, then the definition of patriotism becomes clouded. Especially so if the MINISTRY OF MINES WAS AT NO POINT AWARE OF THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE MILITARY IN SUCH PROTECTION. If the Captain knew the unpatriotic nature of the assignment and went ahead in order to make noko fio, then we need to evaluate the whole scenario with a different thinking cap.

I agreed. There should be a statue at the place where the murder was committed.
