These students ought not merely yo be rusticated, they ought to be dismissed outright with prejudice. That goes not only for the UCC students, but also their accomplices from the other universities. The Alumni Association, of course, has a right to sue. As a society, we need to determine to what extent we tolerate thuggery and hooliganism. This same UCC is the institution out of which we got at least one of the NDC thugs who threatened to rape and kill Supreme Court justices. As long as lawlessness is tolerated, it evolves into serious crimes.

Let them come out from school and be unemployed and they will learn sense. They should have been dismissed and they would have learnt sense, especially the final year students.

Dunaa this has nothing to do with NDC. We have NPP officials that also attended Ghanaian universities including University of Cape Coast who were no better.

Dr/Mr. Yakubu, I hold a PhD degree, so I personally do not have any problem understanding what rusticate meant in that article. All what I was trying to say is that I would have preferred suspend in place of rusticate. I've been living and lecturing in US for the past 15 years. I'm yet to hear or see rusticate in our university language.
I presume rusticate is chiefly used in British English.

The problem of the hall is partly due to the actions of some so called alumni who embolden the students to do all sort of things in the name of supremacy. Those taking this action do not even know what happened and the processes that went on before the final decision was taken. Some of us wanted them to be summarily dismissed. These alumni should abreast themselves with the whole issue before they are embarrassed in court. The university is not composed of blockheads

It looks like there is confusion and a little misunderstanding. Some people are resorting to legal actions not to justify or protect the perpetrators of that mayhem in March but rather they feel that the right people (ATL Hall Executives) are now going to pay for the price of the REAL culprits. The question now becomes "is this real justice?"
If hall executives are being sanctioned, what of the other higher authorities in the hall?? Well I learnt the Hall executives undertook a signing before the hall week celebration that if something bad should happen they should be held responsible. So in another tangent the University authorities are right too.
Peace or Equal rights?? I rest my case
