I seriously hope he will prove me wrong with his all inclusive and much improved method of preventing hawking in traffic. The previous Mayor recognized the serious dangers posed by these street vendors who weave in and out traffic to sell their wares. Not only do they impede trafic flow and sometimes cause or get into accidents but they are sometimes used as cover by thieves who swoop in to snatch purses, cell phones, tablets, laptops, bags and other properties from distracted customers.I completely support the former Mayor's aggressive efforts to remove and discourge vendors from selling in traffic.Maybe the new Mayor's approach will include providing safer locations for the vendors but there shouldn't be any tolerance for Traffic vending.

Now that you believe talking to them will change things, we are waiting for you to begin your talking trip. I hear folks are returning to soddom and gomorrah. They are waiting for you to come and talk to them to leave that place.

The only way out is to enforce the by-laws and regulations of the council and that means arrests and prosecution. These dreamy approach will not do any thing,if at all it will plunge the city into chaos.

I'm all for a new approach, but what is it????
You need police to apply the road consistently and not to make money on the side by allowing 'some' traders to continue to work on the side walk in exchange for a bribe.

In short it is easily said than done so let us hope the suggestion by the new Mayor, Mohamed Adjei Sowah could work. Which Ghanaian today believes in being talk to and then easily follows. Let us wait for the power of the tongue strategy that you have within you.
If in reality this behaviour can be found in Ghana then in simple language we as people will never need the presence of police nor law in our national doings. Look at the number of times the Imam do preach in the mosque and the pastors in the churches about good behaviours, respect of the law and authority, yet consider the number of crimes committed by those who listen to their word of wisdom.
The managing of the affairs of the capital should not be foolishly politicised because it is a tough task since the people are hard noughts who never want to agree with any directives from any authority considering what they get from the illegal areas they do their hawking hence Adjei criticism should not be a thing to be welcome. Adjei seems to be a foolish starter with his uncalled for criticism of the past AMA authority body.
Do it and do not start with criticism, that at the end you will end up with them in the same class. Ask Agyiri Blankson why he failed with the same issue. It is not because he followed a wrong strategy but it was Kufour and the NPP government that shut him up bcos they were afraid of the voters'reactions.
Even Dr Vanderpuiye whom you are at war with now was also somehow suppressed by the NDC bcos of their usual fear of voters' reactions. This therefore should straighten your mind that it is not bcos of the strategies that failed them. Forces that ontrol you is what will cause you to fail.
Be aware that you have spoken and the Greater Accra people are going to watch your work bcos it is not a thing of only words and an early criticism of the AMA immediate past mayor Dr Vanderpuiye strategy applied but the people within your authority will soon ask of what you have done when they still see the people hawking in illegal areas.
As a Muslim that you are, to face facts in Ghana it is believed most of you who are muslims believe in doing things anyhow when it comes to the usage of places. Generally people do what the law forbids them of which you are aware in Ghana, therefore please do not come and sit there and allow our city to become a rubbish centre.
You are aware of the zongo style, and l hope that would not influence your decision and therefore see it normal when the hawkers refuse to agree with your strategy of talking to them. Our places ought to be put in order and who does it is the question?
Look at Sodom and Gomorrah there and others that you think of, all these are not acceptable. What would you do about it? Would they listen to your talks strategy? Keep all this in mind , for l know it is only Nkrumah's mind that could succeed with this issue of Accra . I wish you the best and.....
