God, apparently, on realising people were building a tower to reach him in heaven decided to put paid to their folly, so he sowed confusion and mayhem by assigning each person a different language. They failed to complete the tower and went their separate ways. The moral of the story should not be lost on anyone with a good measure of brain. The white man used the same method to divide up large chunks of Africa into French and English speaking countries to "babelize" us. If we still cannot realise this but come up with lame excuses like "let's preserve our culture, let's preserve our languages", we will be doomed forever. Being developed does not mean doing away with your culture, you cannot be more culture-rich than China, Japan, Germany or Switzerland!

Kwapps, good question but some people would dance around it.my personal opinion is that languages are not important but communication, Africans are suffering from two things language/ religion..?Africans are scared to let go or better call sacrifice, the USA became powerful due to the sacrifice all the different whites who migrated from Europe with many languages but they found out that the only thing which would help them to over their common challenges is sacrificing their languages and agreed on one for the entire nation.Any country which have one common language are automatically powerful and a country with many languages is automatically a confused Nation (Genesis 11:6-9) if USA with 300million population can have one language, Germany 84 million one language, British 60 million one language then Ghana with rough estimate of 27 million with 30 languages and 50 dialects so can you imagine the reason why we can't get any thing done properly.

Why leave Hausa out? It is the second most spoken language in Ghana. It is a non Ghanaian language, but like English, it has a large audience. It is all-over our air waves.I am a Gonna born in Accra but my first language is Hausa then Ga and Gonja. This is a language spoken by almost all Muslims regardless of ones tribe. It is a unifying language in the Islamic communities. You surely can't overlook this fact.
