Know the difference between the so called western countries and Ghana. Know the number of people employed i the western countries and that of Ghana. In Ghana, most are not employed and out of the employed, most are peasants. How do you rain "nuisance" taxes on unemployed and poor peasant farmers? You cannot succeed. If government wants to depend on taxes, it should first create jobs for the people before taxing them. You don't tax the unemployed. Do you also know that in your so called western countries the unemployed earn benefits in the form of salary? Why not talk about that. Do we have that in Ghana too? I hope by now you would understand that your comparism is baseless. God bless you.

Ghana’s President Hurls Insults At Obasanjo At African Forum In London - bloomberg
There was near pandemonium and confusion at the Annual Global African Investment Forum held in Westminster, Central London after a heated exchange between Ghana’s President John Mahama and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo degenerated into open insults. This was due to General Obasanjo openly accusing the Ghanaian president and his government of blackmailing and collecting bribes from Nigerian businessmen in Ghana, buying numerous properties in Nigeria and South Africa and financially contributing 12 million dollars to Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign last year. This infuriated President Mahama who lost his temper and pointing his finger, called General Obasanjo an ” idiot” and a “silly buffoon”.It took other ministers present as well as Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to calm tempers and usher President Mahama to a nearby room. The forum, which takes place from 1st to 3rd December is attended by African Heads of States, Ministers, Private equity firms and investors to discuss opportunities for investment and development in African Economies.
Culled from Bloomberg.

Pieces of intelligence I am gathering indicate that there is a plan to reenact the Charles Antwi episode on Nana Akufo Addo. The aim is to put fear in the NPP so that the current NPP administration will be discouraged from prosecuting appointees of the past Mahama administration. To this end the Nana Addo and his appointees
must avoid enclosed crowded areas such as mosques and churches. If even the need arises for them to go to such places, adequate security must be put in place. A word to the wise is in the Jubilee House. Thank you.

As a chartered accountant and a CIMA Member, i will like to state that the abolition of taxes could be good but they would come at a cost to the nation. The removing of tax on importation of spare parts for instance would boost income of the businessmen engaged in the business and could have a positive impact in other areas of the economy for instance there would be more income to save and this could boost credit. However Ghana could become a dumping ground for spare parts and this could have a negative effects on the environments for many years to come. Another issue is that some car importers would buy the cars abroad and then disassemble them into parts, ship to Ghana as spare parts with the view to evading import duty on the vehicles. When the parts come into the country, they could then assemble them back. Some motor and tricycle dealers are already doing this. I think Government should have policies in place to address issues such as above and any other in the implementation of tax abolition schemes.

Listening to the reactions from Seth Terkper, Ato Forson and Mona Quartey, but from Seth Terkper in particular about their take on the budget one feels very sad, these were the people managing the economy of this country.
It is embarrassing to Ghana that intelligent human beings were available and ready to get the job of fixing Ghana's economy and growing it exponentially, but the likes of Seth"taxes is to prevent smuggling"Terkper and co. were frighteningly speeding Ghana into the abyss on account of monstrous incompetence never ever witnessed before in the history of this country.
Indeed, the results of their output was the worst economic growth in over two decades, rather interestingly, with revenue from our oil and gas resources.
It shows the catastrophic state of economic mismanagement, institutional incompetence, intellectual decay, a visionless economic management position lacking depth and ideas completely unprecedented in the annals of the history of Ghana.
Perhaps, it was for this reason they quickly run to the IMF for technical expertise an euphemism for competence and the capacity to manage Ghana's economy.
It will be important for them to quietly study the budget, seek to understand the fundamentals and the thrust of the maiden Asempa budget and learn and update their knowledge about how to fix and grow an economy instead of the infantile and pedestrian reactions which is exposing their lack of any weight in economic management and policy direction that translates into growth.
It is becoming embarrassing listening to them and an indictment on Ghana, they were ever near the finance and economic management processes of this country.

It appears that it does not matter what NPP these minorities will oppose. The government has just assumed power and the opposition is behave as if it has been in power for years. They will soon become irrelevant
Npp does not know what is ahead of them. They think that they would be given the chance to trade in cocaine as did before. The international communities know NPP very well, and they are waiting for them.
NDC WILL NEVER CHANGE AND WE WONT CHANGE NPP TOO
This is just one of the NPP's tricks to throw dust into the face of Ghanaians especially the non educated kayayei. No wonder, especially in Kumasi when illiteracy is high and being the strong hold of NPP but we live to see.
