The creation of a Gonja region is long over due. Already Gonjaland is known to spread around 3 administrative regions currently: Upper west, Brong Ahafo and Northern regions which is not augering well for the social and cultural cohesion of the Gonja people. Its therefore imperative that we as a people humbly appeal to His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo to grant us our own region. He has listening ears and I believe if we present our case proactively, it will be granted.
Please in dealing with the presidency and any high office let's avoid using terns like " the so called eastern corridor" Gonjaland will reject any attempt", " just to fullfill his campaign promise".
This is a constitutional matter, and once the majority of the electorates in the area votes for a new region, your sentiments will be flawed. It is quite clear that Dagombas and the other tribes will vote in support of a new Eastern Corridor region.
When Albert Nuhu of blessed memory came out to openly lambast the Gonja Traditional Council of which your Father, Yiram Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boresa is the president on certain mishappenings in Gonjaland did he succeed? Many condemned his approach and utmost disrespect to the paramontcy. What did the executives of the Gonjaland Youth Association on the other hand do? They went quietly behind the scenes to the close elders of the Yagbonwura and whispered into their ears and advocate the way forward. Again (constitutional matter) when the NDC Govt decided to reduce the prison terms of the Montie trio, many people including lawyer Maurice Ampaw and Proff Karikari of the Media Foundation of West Africa condemned the idea using unprintable words instead of holding audience with the presidency and tabling their case in a HUMANELY way. At the end of the day it was the president's constitutional armbit that won they day. What could those daring the president do about it?
The creation of the region is an idea, a conception, no region has been created as yet, no refrendom has been held, there is a long enough time to amicably advocate, negotiate, pettion etc for our own Gonja or Ngbanye region. It is possible. I urge you prince, as an influential young man in Gonjaland to mobilise the Gonjaland Council to pay a courtecy call on the president to Congratulate him on his election victory and use the occasion to expantiate to him why we need our own region and follow it up with a letter or a petition.
Gonjaland must have its own region. However, let's avoid resorting to warnings and others words of disrespect to the authorities that be in our quest to have our own region.

I don't see how the President can get this number if the Gonjas vote against the idea. This is going to be an exercise in futility by NPP Govt and a complete waste of the meagre resources of the country. A whole Ministry has been created to squander money in this regard as it appears the NPP will face opposition from NDC in other areas just to make sure one of their manifesto promises does not see light.

Its only the Gonja that thinks that dividng them for development will change the allegiance to their chief. Ignore Gonja land because they do not qualify in terms of population etc for Region and should remain under the Dagomba capital.

He never said he doesn't want any other tribe in the new region or in others words, he never said he wanted a region comprised of only Gonjas. All what he is saying is that, new region or not, he wants all his people to be in the same region be it new or old as it is right now.
Secondly, if the Gonjas have the largest land in the Northern Region and it is to be divided, is it not just fair that a Gonja town is also made the capital of this new region instead of Yendi a Dagomba town again since the Dagombas already have Tamale as a regional capital?
Thirdly, there are four or five major tribes in the Norhtern Region. Is it not just wise that the Nanumbaland is added to the Gonjaland to create this new Region. By so doing, none of the tribe's people would have been separated. This is just common sense
