This form of plagiarism meant nothing to the hungry majority of the Ghanaian citizens whom until Nana, the doyen of contemporary politcs, gave his inspirational inaugural address, knew nothing about the word. The hullabaloo is an attempt by these Crazy Bald heads, who are badly wounded by the humiliating defeat they suffered in the hands of the new septuagenarian Commander in Chief, to bury their shame. Btw, if Obama of Mighty US of A could plagiarize then Nana Addo of Tiny Ghana could be regarded as common mistake. K. ANIM, What is the BIG PICTURE? if we can't see it we can't move towards it. The reality on the ground that you fail to note is that even though the NDC lost, it still has a fairly large support base 44%, just as NPP, plus floating voters depending on which side their back. IT IS NOT A CASE OF "OTANHUN ARA KWA" That is too simplistic! NDC has its picture different from NPP's, which are all different from the BIGGER NATIONAL PICTURE OF BUILDING A ONE NATION, OF ONE PEOPLE WITH A COMMON DESTINY! Read comments and post of various NDC and NPP supporters! One side still insist and NDC and John Mahama are thieves! The other side sees a dwarfvand a wee smoker, K. Anim so which bigger picture are you talking about. The party in opposition is bent on dishing out the same harassment the party in power gave to them whilst they were in power. You can't fault them, the bible talks of getting the same measure with which we give. One cannot torment another, call him a "thief", "incompetent" and turn round to ask those you insulted to pray for your leader. It is a foolish request because unless the sufferer decides to forgive and forget, man you are in trouble. You can now imagine the noise over Nana Addo's first bloch! Plagiarized speech. After Nana Addo's government, I pray ghanaians will realize the NEED AND THE IMPORTANCE of allowing a party in power to rule, whilst the minority in Parliament offer constructive suggestion, and watch the ruling government, whilst we the people support and pray for that party and Ghana to follow the path of the BIG PICTURE. But K. Anim for now, na lie, lie.

It is not right or proper for staffers in any government to maintain Facebook accounts/walls where they communicate with the public on matters concerning public policy and administration.
This is wrong!
This not professional!
That is irresponsible.
If Mr. Mahama did not care to put a stop to that, Serious Akufo Addo should.
He should do that immediately.
Personal Facebook walls are personal --- period.
Personal Facebook walls are not government issued resource.
Serious Akufo Addo ought to ban that.
The Government of Ghana (GoG) ought to have its own portal, depending on the agency, where they reply to questions and comments they receive from everyone one who has an honest or reasonable inquiry.
In addition to approved direct communications by responsible officials on Radio, TV, and press, the GoG press releases ought to be communicated primarily on dedicated, public WEBSITES, not FACEBOOK.
Nobody ought to have any personal account to learn what the GoG wants the People to know. Point is, FACEBOOK, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, etc., are not appropriate for communications between the GoG and the public.
That apology ought to have emanated from official, approved source/medium.

I am deeply worried that some NPP party hacks are downplaying this egregious intellectual dishonesty by our new president. Can Akufo-Addo and his team of plagiarizers be trusted to bring about the change Ghanaians voted for?
The writer of this article asked a redoubtable profound question, and I quote:"The important question is, is Akufo-Addo ever going to read documents thoroughly and with the benefit of proactive discernment and critical caution before signing them into law...,". The probable question is: Is Akufo-Addo capable of making the change he has promised our people. If so then, why is the communication director still at his post?
Readers should be reminded once again the humiliation the country suffered under JD Mahama presidency during the 59th Independence celebration, dubbed the 'brochuregate', where the visiting Kenyan President was misrepresented as President of Ghana.
I am surprised this writer did not reference the equally scandalous brochuregate debacle under JD Mahama administration. The two incidents, no doubt, provides the concatenation of embarrassing moments that would undoubtedly etch into our national subconsciousness and in the minds of those who follow events in the country, especially President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has witnessed both unfortunate incidents in sequence. What a shame!!!

Dear My Good Friend KKO,
Thanks for your observations.
But you surely got it all wrong.
Have you seen an original transcript of Akufo-Addo's inaugural address yet?
Have you wondered why Eugene Arhin apologized?
Or why CNN, BBC, Al Jazeera, Reuters, Yahoo News, Washington Post, Nairobi News, Metro News,Vangauard Nigeria...were all mocking Ghana?
Have you wondered why the writer of the said inaugural speech merely replaced "Americans" with "Ghanaians" in those parts of the speech directly attributed to Bill Clinton and George Bush?
As a matter of fact it is still irrelevant when Woodrow Wilson reportedly made those comments. Here is why several others (and I) are saying Akufo-Addo's speech had plagiarized parts:
Quotes directly attributed to Nkrumah, Busia, Danquah, St. Paul (Galatians 6:9) were PUT IN QUOTATION MARKS.
However, those directly attributed to George Bush (and George Bush)(which somehow goes all the way back to Woodrow Wilson)were NOT PUT IN QUOTATION MARKS.
Yes, those quotations from Bush (and Clinton) should have been put in quotations marks (without attribution according to American intellectual property laws and that would have been perfectly acceptable). THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE.
Why were those George Bush (and Clinton) quotations sneaked into the speech without quotation marks?
Even if the original "age" of a quotation went beyond the stipulated time limit where anyone could use it without proper attribution, it still has to be in quotation marks to indicate or signal to readers that it is somebody else's.
Let me remind and assure you that writers who directly quote any of America's Founding Fathers, Abraham Lincoln...and Woodrow Wilson's American contemporaries put the quotes in QUOTATION MARKS.
You simply do that or include authorial or authorship attribution. I say this because I have done this with some major American writers, etc. So don't throw dust into my eyes.
Leaving out the quotation marks is what makes those controversial parts fit the intellectual crime of "plagiarism."
I hope you get it?
Thanks for reading and sharing your views with us. But then again, why is Eugene Arhin and the leadership of the NPP (some of whom schooled here in the United States) apologizing?
Yes, they know what you probably don't know! Please don't bring in the politics of equalization because that may not be helpful for our country.
Enjoy the week.

My friend Nii, if JD Mahama created 'create, loot and share', and the so-called saviour Akufo-Addo lifted speeches from two American Presidents without giving due credit to them, then both Mahama and Akufo-Addo are dishonest in the scheme of things.
So tell me my friend, how can two wrongs make right? Mahama stole from the people, and Akufo-Addo also stole intellectual properties from the two American Presidents. How can you say Mahama's crime is more egregious than Akufo-Addo. They all amount to dishonesty - they are both dishonest. That is the short answer to your problem.

If Akufo-Addo claims to be an agent of change, but steals intellectual property belonging to two different former US presidents, the ignorant Ghanaian bedeviled with stupid partisan politics cannot get his head around the flagrant dishonesty. That is why today, some backward Ghanaians believe Mahama was the best thing that ever happened to our country despite his loot and share policies.
When is the Ghanaian going to take himself/herself seriously? I have something else to do, and that is, hold accountable those thieves and dishonest individuals who claim to be our leaders. Stay on the fence and bury your head in the sand as an ostrich.

If you claim your so called plagiarism to be the conduct of a leader, then I guess all the recent decades American presidents are also to be put in your said moral shame. At least, Bill Clinton, George Bush and Barrack Obama have a lot of excerpts of someone's messages in their various speeches. But as I speak now, history has been proving that Bill Clinton and Obama are one of the best presidents in the United States.
Nana Akufo Addo's message is not and cannot be termed as plagiarism because the message has become a public domain, yet some so called Ghanaian intellectuals and academic gurus wanted to tag him for plagiarism. What is the background of you guys education. Ghanaweb is giving too much room for too many rubbish on their platform. Ghanaweb, find something important for your clients to read because the world would be laughing at us (Ghanaians) for not knowing the rules regarding when and when not to give credit for someone's speech.
Oh gush, you guys are sickening and need to find someone better to do. Nana has good plans for Ghana and his message has already given us the assurance that he is there for us to make Ghana a better place to live. That alone should be good enough. We as patriot citizens of Ghana support the good intent of our president not a message he copied from someone's speech. After all, we needed to hear that message because it was good for the occasion.
Stop writing rubbish about Nana and find a better thing to do. You folks are a pain in the butt. You need to grow up, and stop criticism that would amount to nothing.

In fact, "Plagiarism" is everywhere and in various forms including tangibles far hugest than this...plagiarism of technologies etc. I dare say that Africa has suffered far more plagiarism than any other people. The west copied lots including even buildings ditto ditto from ancient Africa.
Honestly speaking, I will be much consciously willing to engage in even technology plagiarism, not phrase plagiarism but even scientific or technological plagiarism for my people if it would help them, if it would advance their cause, and not care what others would say.
If we check, we would observe that almost the entire world owe their advancements mostly to plagiarism.
