This is the joke breakaway micro-state that declared independence from Australia and now issues its own passports, currency, and university qualifications. Who, after all, could take seriously a degree awarded by a fictitious university, licensed by an equally fictitious state?
Now though, a report just out from a British company that vets job applicants paints a far broader picture and goes a long way towards answering my question. According to Bedford-based Verifile, bogus universities are a serious and growing problem – and Britain is home to more of them than any other country except the United States.
At their worst, these colleges offer degrees in return for nothing more than payment. Some expect students to go through the motions of submitting a minor amount of written work by post, but for the most part, essays are optional.
The motives of the students vary. Some believe that putting BA or MA after their name will help them find work or gain promotion. Others delude themselves that they are dealing with a genuine university that recognises their worth and has decided to award them the degree that they missed out on when they were young.
And for many from Third World countries, getting a letter of acceptance from a college that is really nothing more than a spare room over a corner shop is their ticket to acquiring a UK visa.
According to the Verifile report, at least 271 bogus institutions award fake degrees in the United Kingdom. This compares to seven in France, nine in Spain, and 13 in Germany. In fact, the bogus institutions far outnumber the 158 genuine colleges and universities that are recognised by the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills,
So much for the big picture. But what does all this mean on the ground?
Three years ago, 48-year-old Gene Morrison from Manchester was jailed for five years after using a fake qualification as a forensic psychologist. Over a period of almost three decades, he worked on 700 cases and gave expert evidence in court hundreds of times, earning fees of £250,000 or more.
He claimed to have a BSc in Forensic Science, a Masters in Forensic Investigation, and a Doctorate in Criminology. The truth was that he left school with no qualifications, watched a few taped broadcasts from the Open University, and then in 1977 he bought his degrees from the fake Rochville University in the USA.
According to police, Morrison then advertised for work in the Solicitors Journal. At first he subcontracted work to genuine experts, presented it as his own, and charged double their fees. Later, he simply compiled cut-and-paste reports, altering the details slightly to fit the case.
It seems nobody questioned his qualifications, or the status of Rochville University. But this is nothing new. Rochville University has spent years perfecting its smoke-and-mirrors appearance as the real thing.

This will ensure the NPP continuous stays in office for at least 7yrs in line with the believe that '4 yrs is not enough for any sitting president- Prez Kuffour'.
At the end of the first 4yrs, Nana Addo will then withdraw due to age factor and allow Bawumia to control affairs.
In the 6th year onward, will be when very serious confusion will set in NPP camp because Bawumia would have been the obvious choice for president in year 2023, which some big party shots will try to prevent.
But whatever being the case NPP would have stayed in power continuously for at least 7yrs, from 2017 to 2023.

To clear your ignorance,Spio Garbah was given an honorary degree by a university,he did not give that to himself or went to printing press to print the degree for you to ignorantly call it fake,it is not fake,get life and stop displaying your ignorance.

The EC going beyond its limit,there is no educational qualification to become president in Ghana for that matter EC has no right to check anyone's educational background,you cannot check something that is not a requirement,the law did not say somebody has to hold PhD to become a president so if somebody lists PhD as his qualification you do not have to even pay attention to that since that is not the requirement you are looking for,EC's mandate is not to be checking candidates educational qualifications which is not a requirement to be on the ballot,they cannot disqualify him because he got a degree from a university they do not recognize,there is nothing like recognition by a particular body when it comes to universities,those universities are also recognized by other groups,give us a break.

The National Accreditation Board (NAB) wishes to inform the general public that the above-named institutions (Great Achievers University College and the Seminary Team Impact Christian University, USA) have not been accredited to award any form of degree, be it regular or honorary. We therefore issue this notice to caution recipients of the so-called honorary degrees on the usage of such “academic titles” in order to avoid exposing themselves to unnecessary embarrassment and ridicule.
The Board hereby reminds the general public, that, conferment of honorary degrees is the prerogative of degree awarding institutions so mandated. Therefore, non-governmental organizations, unaccredited institutions and accredited private tertiary institutions operating under the mentorship of chartered, degree-awarding universities are not qualified by themselves to confer honorary degrees. The courses and certificates offered are to such extent to promote God’s work not secular professionalism.

THE COST
It takes 1700 US Dollars for a student who is studying off campus to pay his tuition and have necessary materials to pass through the school for the
period of two years. You can sow a seed of 50, 100 or 200 US Dollars to join others and send missionaries to the remote places of Africa.
If a student from afar is staying with us on campus, the cost will be 3,000
US Dollars as we must provide for all of the student's needs.

LIBRARY
Presently, the college has no library. We wish to have one and we ask whosoever loves missions to help us build a good library. Students desire to read and make researches but it is hard presently. We would also like to have study materials from any ministry that wishes to help.

CLASSROOMS
We are using a hired hall for now, and we believe that God will help us to get a permanent place of studies. Either by getting a nice place or by
buying land and putting up a structure that can help us train people better.

AIUC recognizes the years of service dedicated to the Lord, significant contributions to the Church, notable achievements of individuals in active Christian service, and the exemplary qualifications of those individuals in their field of service.

A candidate for a honorary degree must be at least thirty five (35) years old and have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of full or active part-time Christian service (some exceptions in ministry years may be made based on the achievements).

An honorary degree is awarded in recognition of an individual’s work in contribution to the Church – ministry and academic. The candidate for an honorary degree must be recommended by three (3) established ordained ministers and/or professional Christians (at least one must be an ordained minister). The following is a list of honorary degrees awarded by AIUC:
Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)

For an exemplary qualification in any area of Christian ministry.

Doctor of Evangelism (D.Evan.)

For an exemplary qualification in any field of Evangelism.

Doctor of Sacred Counseling (D.S.C.)

Ayariga may have a valid case if he was disqualified solely on his alleged fake degree. Ayariga's PhD can't be considered fake, because it was granted by an institution, albeit an unaccredited one. Ghanaians' obsessions with advanced degrees is the reason for the proliferation of fake PhD holders in the country. You have people in high places going to degree mills abroad to pay for these worthless degrees that are unrelated to their jobs so that can be included in their names. The press is not blameless in this, as it is also responsible for propagating this nonsense.

Even though the constitution has spelt out the basic requirements for someone intending to contest for the presidency, it also mandates the EC to make laws to regulate same. Therefore, if you contravene any of the regulations in the CI which in this case is deception of a public officer and perjury, you can be disqualified. You can just walk to Spain within three days and come with a fake certificate to disturb our ears.
