PROPHET BAWUMIA:--------- Mr. President, care to read? Today's request for disclosure on the 2007 redenomination is another demonstration of incompetence. Apart from the fact that the then Governor disclosed the cost as far back as 2007, if the President really wanted to find out the cost of the redenomination, he could simply have asked his VEEP who was Bank of Ghana Governor, especially when the President was Head of the Economic Management Team between 2009 and 2012. Such petty propaganda should be beneath someone of the stature of a President. It is clear he is very poorly briefed, but when a President decides to join the bandwagon of propaganda , he only ends up embarrassing himself. Moving on, can the President (with the same zeal) and his Economic Management Team respond to the 170 statements contained in my last lecture?

In the areas of Agriculture alone, in 2013, 166,807mt of fertilizer were distributed to farmers, compared to 43,176mt in 2008. This moved fertilizer coverage from 8kg per hectare in 2008 to 12kg per hectare as of 2013;

• Two hundred metric tonnes of improved rice seeds were distributed to 10,000 farmers in the Volta, Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions to increase productivity;

• Local rice production has increased from 301,900 metric tonnes in 2008 to 604,041 metric tonnes in 2014. Consequently, Ghana has attained 56% self-sufficiency in rice production. Indeed, the rice import bill fell by 45%, reducing from US$392.3m in 2013 to US$215.23m in 2014;

• Three hundred and thirty-six (336) units of equipment comprising 147 tractors, 92 power tillers, 55 rice threshers, 31 rice reapers and 11 rice mills with their respective components were assembled for farmers and many more are being distributed.

These are obvious achievements by the NDC government which for fact will clinch victory for the NDC.

In the area of railway transport, the construction of the Eastern Railway line from Tema to Kumasi via the Boankra Inland Port;

• Commencement of work on the construction of the Sekondi-Takoradi via Kojokrom suburban railway line to revamp rail commuter services between the twin cities;

• Completed Front End Engineering Design (FEED) on the Western Railway Line (KojokromAwaso through Dunkwa to Kumasi);

• Commenced preparatory work on the TemaAkosombo Railway Line.

These are facts which demonstrates the NDC government is obviously ahead of the NPP and not has the bias report of the EIU has suggested all this while.

The EIU is sitting in London or some western capital and predicting a win for the NPP. Come to my village and see what the NDC Governmnet has done. We have been connected to the National grid, more boreholes have been dug for the community, A CHPS compound has been built and women are delivered safely etc. Such a community will never vote for NPP. And do not forget that this is replicated in rural communities all over the Country. It is the rural people who will let the NDC win and not the middle class people in the cities and towns.
