To be fair, EC, I think you also did not interpret portions of the C.I. correctly and messed up a bit, YOU HAVE TO ADMIT YOU MISTAKE. It is your duty, EC, to
1. Inform the political parties of any errors on their submitted forms, IT IS NOT A FAVOUR FROM THE EC,
2. extend the deadline of submission to cater for the correction because
3. IT IS THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO BE INFORMED OF THE ERRORS SO THEY CAN CORRECT THEM.

If you invited any of the affected political parties to correct any of the errors on the forms but still submitted error-laden docs, then you (EC) have exhausted all avenues of mercy for any of them and therefore would have exonerated yourself. On the other hand if that wasn't done, then it is their constitutional right to challenge their disqualification at the Supreme Court if the so desire. I don't think this is trivialisation of the matter since you may have erred.

It has nothing to do with the ability to complete forms. Besides, those you "qualified" to contest are not asking you to "disqualify" those who could not complete those forms to your satisfaction. So, your action does not "imply fairness" to the other competitors.

Any of the candidates could be the popular choice in this elections. This interpretation of the law is not in the public interest and the precedent is dangerous for our future. Politics will now shift from getting elected to getting your opponents disqualified. Let wisdom prevail. A word to the wise is enough.
